hello, new friends! ♥

Name: Sonya
Age: 33
Location: Maine, U.S.A.

Introduction: Hello, friends! I created this account originally when I thought LiveJournal may go dark due to the war, but I couldn't get into it. I tried a second time a few months ago, and again, it just didn't feel right. I suppose it correlates with my inability to stomach change well. However, I'm here and ready to stay! Please, if you tried to add me previously and felt I just immediately ghosted, feel free to add me again. I promise I'm going to give this a honest try. I even paid for this account. I'm not as flakey as I sound, I just... Change is hard for me.

That all being said, if you have any tips and tricks to help with the transition, please let me know. I'm still figuring out the difference between subscribe and access lists. I also want to customize my layout to more accurately reflect me and who I am.

Posting Style: I use online journaling as a way to connect with others with similar mindsets & interests while also documenting the moments in my life, no matter how large or small. My day-to-day life consists of my hobbies with some work-related rants here and there. There's a quote by Louisa May Alcott that I love, "Preserve your memories, keep them well, what you forget you can never retell."

I try to post daily, but at least every other day. I don't expect my friends to always have something to say and therefore do not expect interactions on every single post due to how often I post. I do read and comment my friends pages just as often.

My hobbies are: abandoned buildings, camping, dog training, disc golf, gardening, hiking, homesteading, nature walks, paranormal, photography, reading, travel, and video games (presently playing:animal crossing, diablo 4, pokemon go but also enjoy: spyro, ratchet & clank, sea of thieves, world of warcraft).

I'm looking to meet people who: are looking to make geniune connections. We don't need to have everything in common, but I do ask that if you do add me, that you're not a conservative bigot that spews more hate than love.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: negative people that don't at least try to make positive changes in their life.

Before adding me, you should know: About 80% of my posts typically come with a photo (or five), but I do try to write more than I show.

a few Legion Gathering Events that we had no chance of making it to due to being deep of undiscovered map territory.

I had no idea this was a thing and most likely for the same reason. Good to know! I hae seen other events on the map and those are fun to partake in.

I suppose it won't be as useful considering at that point I'll have all of those waypoints.

Those waypoints are a serious help. Its been nice to teleport around everywhere.

t sounds wonderful in theory, but I can see why they wouldn't want to put it in the game. I, too, am loving the WoW feel to the game and it is actually making me want to renew my subscription. I try not to activate in the Summer months because I could easily hunker down inside for days. I try to keep that for my Winter activity.

That's legit, though. I've had other friends who only play in the autumn/winter time for various reasons. [A former GM was a IRL farmer and only had the chance to play when he wasn't working on his crops.] But when you do, I'd be happy to share my battle.net info and add you so we could game together sometime :)

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager, When You See Me by Lisa Gardner, and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. Lisa Gardner's books are technically series and When You See Me combines two of her series, but I believe it can be read as a standalone book.

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll check those out.

so difficult to pronounce and I am always so worried about saying them wrong. It's a silly little fear. It's not as though someone is going to come up to me and demand I know how to pronounce it.

It's a thing though. Pronunciations can be genuinely difficult - and if you're tripping up on one or two of them during a book? It can be off putting.

I have read the Ogre series of Dragonlance by Richard Knaack

Ooh! I don't think I've read that series. Another one to throw onto the TBR list. I read War of the Ancients by Richard Knaack and genuinely enjoyed it. The pacing was good, too.

I still say that I am going to make it through the entire series of Supernatural as I know there's an end, but I always get stuck around season 7 or 8 and move on to something else

That's such a fair statement. However, season nine's story arc is one of my favorites and there's some genuine comedic gold in there. I hope you're able to get through some of the later seasons eventually.

Currently I'm alternating between Mythic Quest, Black Mirror, American Horror Story (I know, I'm so far behind!)

No judgement here! I'm just now watching movies that I didn't give the time of day before. All of them to have come out somewhere in the early 2000s, I think. I've not seen any of those shows either.

I am always down for new people to adventure with!

Me too!

These days I'm more about completing the campaign/storyline now that I'm geared up a little bit through world content. I used to raid (Wrath/Cata/Legion/beginning of Shadowlands), and used to run mythic keys (BFA) but I'm only in a guild with my partner, currently so that's not quite a viable option (outside of LFR).

But I'm huge into transmog, so I'm constantly running older content for set pieces and creating civilan-esque outfits. I'm also a title collector - so if there's a title connected to an activity, I'm liable to do that so I can have it.

What about you? What's your game play style like?

I just added the first book of War of the Ancients into my recommendations folder on Goodreads. I'll be sure to check it!

Let me know what you think! I also recommend Sylvanas' book, btw. Say what you will about the character, but Christie Golden did that book right. It gives insight in ways you wouldn't normally like of.

Oooh! It's good to know that the storyline picks up a bit in Season Nine in Supernatural. I'll give it another go at some point. I don't want to miss anything that's good!

Yes! No major spoilers but I pretty much died from laughter after watching a particular scene that had Cas, Dean and Sam talk about... protection. XD

I have always been a huge fan of questing, regardless if it's storyline or side

YES. What's your favorite story arc?

There's a few mounts that I want to collect.

Which other ones do you want to get?

I wanted a camel so badly that I ran through Lost city of Tol'vir for days during the start of the pandemic. XD

Did you get it?

I really want to get into raids, but I'm scared I'm not good enough for it.

Pssh. You're good enough. Don't ever doubt that.

What I will say - this is coming from previous experience and from love - its all about the prep: making sure you have the right potions/food/enchants on your gear, decent gear, studying the boss fights. If you're good for running Mythics, then raiding's kind of the next steps.

If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer them. I'm big into Icy Veins and WoWhead for information, ZYGOR has some wonderful guides for pretty much anything you want to do (which is nice that it's in-game).

I'll be sure to check Sylvanas out, too!

Let me know what you think!

Oh, I just love Cas. He's probably one of my favorite characters. I can't wait to see that scene! Aahaahha!

OOH. You're in for a treat :D

I've always really enjoyed the storylines within Drustavar and Darkwood

(Question - did you mean Duskwood?) I loved those storylines too! They were epic to run through.

I deeply enjoyed watching the devolopment of Jaina Proudmore throughout Battle for Azeroth.

This! Especially after all that happened in Theramore.

I will be honest and say that I could never get into anything within Nazjatar. I hated it entirely. I try to get out of that area as soon as I get into it. I'm not even sure what it is. I just loathe that entire land mass.

SAAAAAME. It was difficult to get around in that area when it was current content and its not served a single thing since. (However intriguing with Queen Azshara and the Old Gods connection.)

I really, really want to go through the steps to try and obtain the Lucid Nightmare Mount. I'm not even sure if it's still available, but I remember having that one bookmarked as one I want the next time I play.

There's a guide on how to obtain the Lucid Nightmare, so I think its still doable. I know that's one of the mounts I'm eyeballing myself. (Invincible still evades me, so there's that too.)

Okay. All this talk is giving me the itch again. I may have to activate my account sooner rather than later. LOL. The problem with having so many time consuming hobbies is the rotation of them.

HAHA. I feel you on that. You're more than welcome to add me on battle.net if you're interested!

You're absolutely right. I really just need to refer to sites like those. I use Icy Veins a lot. I've never heard of ZYGOR, but I'll bookmark it. Thank you!

I swear by Icy Veins (as well as WoWhead) for a lot of class-related play, but I've also checked out Method's webpage too for rotation and the like. They're newer to me so I'm not as familiar with their stuff.

I would never choose The Darkwood because I didn't care for most of Tol Barad.

Fair enough. I don't recall Tol Barad very well, it wasn't one of the areas I actively played in. (But I'm not really a PvPer so that also may be why.)

The amount of times I have accidently went AFK (snack, bathroom) in a PVP area is embarrassing.

I think this has happened to the best of us, haha.

I would much rather absorb the storyline through a book or movie than ever go through Nazjatar ever again. Thankfully that area isn't really needed any more and I can easily avoid it.

Same. I think there are stories that are free to read on WoW's official website. I know I learned about the marriage between Lor'themar and First Arcanist Thalyssra that way. (Which was a total WTF moment because I legit wanted to see that in game!) The elves are still my favorite race in the game so I nerded out on that one.

I wish I could activate now. I only have about two weeks of available time to play before we migrate into our busy season as work. As soon as Back to School season is over, I'm certainly activating.

No rush! I'm big into focusing on real life stuff before playing the game, so I feel ya. I've got the digital authenticator from Blizzard, haven't heard about a Microsoft one. I also agree- wouldn't be the first time I've had to email Blizzard for the same reason, lol. (I stopped playing mid-2013 because of life reasons, only to return in late 2016 and had to jump through hoops of fire to get my account back.)

I will certainly be adding you once I'm on. It sounds like we could have a ton of fun!

Oh absolutely! I can't wait :)

Oh wow. Thank you for sharing. I clicked the link and see there are a few new things that I'll likely want to read up before I get back in there.

Not a problem! There's a ton of WoW secrets, I'm on the discord for them. I love figuring out this stuff.

I'm not big on the PVP portion either, but there was some questline that brought me through Tol Barad at one point. I think it was in my earlier days of playing.

I'm not surprised. They have quests for everything, lol.

I never thought to check the website for additional stories. I'll be sure to check that out, too!

Their library should be decently sized by now. I'll have to go back and check to see which ones they've got there.

That's one thing I should do, join more discords! Even when I'm not playing, it's still nice to follow along with events and happenings. You never know what you don't know until people point it out!

Also true! There's a discord for everything these days. ("YOU get a discord server! And you get a discord server!" lol)
