Name: Raven (Ny uername is Italian for my old LJ username, which was raven_moon. Hey, we were all young, angsty, and goth once, don't judge! LOL)

Age: Old enough to know you never ask a lady her age! Seriously, though, I don't feel my age, and I hang with people of all ages, so who cares?

I mostly post about: Life, academia (huge history geek, medieval history in particular), my work (teaching all over the place), my cats, art, politics, games & gaming, feminism, cultural issues & critique...

My hobbies are: Art, gaming (video and tabletop RPG though not in a while, sadly), baking, crafty stuff, costume making, home improvement.

My fandoms are: These days, mostly games: Destiny 2, Skyrim, Fallout (4, mostly, I have a love/hate with 76), but I also play stuff like Terraria, Minecraft, CoreKeeper, Starbound, etc.

I'm looking to meet people who: Are smart, interesting, caring, decent - I dunno, just cool, quirky folks.

My posting schedule tends to be: It used to be daily+ when I still lived in LJ-land. Then that fell apart, and I never quite got in the groove here. I've cut ties with Meta, X, etc., and trying to focus on more in-depth community, so I'm trying to be on here more often. Having awesome people to hang with is part of that, hence...this!

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: I don't have many, but I suppose overtly religious, pro-Trump and any of the MAGA crap. I am firmly left!

Before adding me, you should know: I am an atheist with a degree in religious studies, feminist, 1,000% pro-LGBTQ+, democratic socialist. So if that's not your cuppa...

I see what you mean about IRL interests - anyone who knows who Fra Angelico or Charles Rennie Mackintosh even are (to say nothing of Foucault!), or why the Languedoc is significant is definitely a person to know in my book! Atheist with a degree in religious studies sounds fascinating. I'm an atheist and when I was in school some of my favorite classes were World Religions and one called Parallel Mythologies (I think...it's been awhile) that looked at the timing and formation of religions around the world and how similar they were and how they coincided with the natural world etc. I love that stuff.

Also a feminist, gamer, and crafter and had a robust journal in the LJ days but never seemed to make the switch here, and here I am giving it another go. I've gone and added you!

Awesome! Welcome, and added back! I'm trying to be a little more...purposeful in finding people to connect with - that was what kept me on LJ for so long, and I think we're gonna need some community (even the virtual kind) in the next few years...

And thanks, RE layout! It's sort of a port/recreation of my old LJ version of Component. I was writing whole layout code back then! LOL

The only thing we have in common fandom-wise is Minecraft but all of your other interests and your life outlook definitely hit the marks for me! I'd love to add you if you're at all interested.

I get a lot of compliments on that icon haha! It's just from a gif of a cat that's popular in gif sites like giphy - I took a screenshot of the peak of the smirk.

My friend Rachel (who was a LiveJournal buddy who visited me IRL) is an LGBTQ+ religious studies major! :O I let her sleep in my room (?) when she came over to pay a visit since she seemed to be like that. O_o My mother was decidedly displeased about this arrangement. But then a year later she married some other lady, so w/e. The story with that involved something regarding visas. Her wife keeps in more regular contact than she does, but such is how life plays out, right?

I am another artist of some sort! (I drew my icon ^_^) At the moment I do colorpencil work but I did do a little bit of Photoshop stuff 15 years ago or so.

I don't have an "introduction sticky" myself... Maybe I should make one.

I love the icon - self-portrait, I gather? It's so hard drawing people for me, so I'm in awe. I'd love to add you, if that's cool?

It is a selfie, of sorts, yes! It took me 15 minutes. Although that might not sound like a long time initially, when you think about it, that time went into dedicated effort. Aww, it looks like I don't have the full version anymore in my dA gallery, but I have other goodies there. Maybe I should change some Featured and Scrap images around, IDK, the deviantART site has changed a bunch over the years and it's just where I've dumped all my art over time no matter which quality I judged it.

You know, I think there is value in putting everything in a scrapbook (virtual or otherwise), regardless of our feelings on it. I have gone back ages later and looked at something I hated when I did it and found that, really, it's pretty good! I can't wait to check out your DA (have to see if I still even have a login - it's been forever....) ALso, I need some art-making icons....

I have not been active in responding due to a mystery fever, but I agree here! This is my dA gallery, though I haven't put anything up in a while.

I long thought I'd want to be in academia, but my only foray into teaching has been home educating my son XD

I used to be a wannabe academic when I was younger, but then got scared at how all-consuming it could be and these days I just nurture my interests from outside..many similar to yours - history (love medieval history), culture, art. Absolutely! Honestly, I wish I was more squarely back in academia - middle schools pays the bills, but doesn't quite satisfy....
