i keep forgetting subjects exist lmfao
Name: Shiv
Age: late 30s.
I mostly post about: Overall, it’s about life, work, friends, and all the shenanigans that come with it. Likely some heavier discussions/reflections too about mental health and wellness as I continue to unpack the last few decades and reclaim my life from it all but not always.
My hobbies are: Many! dancing, performance art, cooking, playing indie co-op games with online friends (lot of lethal company lately), hanging out with my cats, witching around, walks and hikes & getting back into fitness, hosting, shopping & makeup when I have the dosh, watching people play blood on the clocktower. Getting back into managing a neocities website and web revival/disconnecting. 90s/00s nostalgia hitting hard. I'm looking to spend 2025 rediscovering things that I like and hobbies I might want to dive into outside of work. I'm also trying to learn Spanish and was trying to learn German but one thing at a time, right? lol.
My fandoms are: I don’t really do fandoms anymore, so you’re not likely to see much if anything about them on my blog though I may nerd out here and there, likely more about music related things. Things I like: Music is a massive part of who I am. When it comes to movies/tv shows, I’m all about action films, especially the cornier ones. I’ve got a soft spot for anything supernatural, occult, or horror-related for the most part with a bit of sci-fi sprinkled in. Really love me some circus/carnival aesthetics. I also enjoy true crime and watching Let’s Plays.
I'm looking to meet people who: I’m looking to connect with people who are using DW as a space to reflect, journal, and genuinely connect with others. Whether it’s building meaningful friendships and creating a supportive community, or just being casual friends who might stick around for a season or a lifetime, I’m open to it all. People who call me out when I need it and support when I need it and vise-versa. People who can relate to my particular wilds of the world. People who want to share, grow, and see where the journey takes us! :)
My posting schedule tends to be: Not sure yet, I've been every couple of days to every day so far but it might not always be like this. Might fluctuate depending on what kind of time and gigs I have in a month. Used to be REALLY sporadic but I'm going to try for every few days to weeks!
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: The usual stuff, and also a high preference for people more around my age. I tend to give people a chance and don't mind engaging in critical conversations when I have the energy and if they are welcomed by all involved. If I see something that is a red flag for me, I'll unfriend. I welcome you to do the same.
Before adding me, you should know: I’ve got a long history with mental illness and have spent almost a decade sheltering and isolating myself because of it. These days, I’m working with a lot of people to better understand and manage my illnesses and disabilities, and to start reclaiming my space in the world. Not every entry will be about this, life is fun and wild a lot of the time, but just an FYI.
mostly friend-locked - if you add and feel like its not for you, that is super ok.

Oh, and did you watch them play? It looks so fun, tbh. I might honestly give it a try someday. C'mon in, I'll give you an add :)

Blood on the Clocktower - sadly I didn't get to watch it as I was sequestered in the hotel room with our sleeping young one. But I heard about it, and it sounded fun :D Kind of like Werewolf on steriods.

What is 7 wonders? Tell me about it!
Ah, alas. There's a fairly large online community. Both The Pandemonium Institute and The Grimoire are folx I watch, they're all so friendly and informative.

7 Wonders is a card drafting/engine building game themed around the ancient world. These are all things I love, so I love the game :D

Aah, interesting! Not sure its up my alley personally but I hope you find a way to get it going with just you two and continue to play :)

I would love to add you, you sound like a very interesting person and I can relate when it comes to the mental illness stuff, having gone through it myself. So there's definitely no judgment there from my side. My journal is also mostly about my life and thoughts.
We have a lot in common too, as it seems - I am a fellow true crime fan, big music lover, have a cat, like to go on walks and am very intrigued by witchy stuff, although I don't practice any of it myself.
Want to give it a try? My name is Tina, I'm 36 and living in Germany - on that note, if you decide to pick your German studies back up, you are welcome to hit me up if you ever need help.

Oh -- that's great! I will let you know. I've been wanting to visit for a long time. I don't have much connection with my birth family, but I do know that I have German roots. I appreciate the offer greatly.
C'mon in!

Which musical artists/songs would you say are must-haves for a playlist that introduces you to folks?
no subject
Also, hello! And yes, reclaiming!! Can be very hard sometimes with the world we are living in, but I'm really trying. You, too?
no subject
Yes, me too. I dunno, "old school" blogging feels intentional but not... feeling like a product, you know? Which I've been reflecting on more and more when I log into social media. Like, give me people. The reason why folks take to the social platforms with guarded optimism is because it opens up opportunities to meet people you otherwise wouldn't meet. (But that is a long-winded reflection for another time, possibly a post.)
I hope you don't miiiind ♥️ I added you and granted access as well.
(My journal is on a 60/40 public-friends only split because some things I can post freely, others, I need to be more circumspect given my day job.)

1. Big Bad Wolf by In This Moment
2. バビDoll by SCISSOR
3. Apparitions by Matthew Good Band
4. Earworm by Cottontail (horror and flashing lights)
5. Bienvenido A La Maldad by Hocico
6. Andromeda by Gorillaz
7. Hypa Hypa (Electric Callboy Cover) by We Butter The Bread With Butter (really silly, but extremely heavy lmao)
8. Trick R Treat by Raydar
9. - 鱗 - Uroko by Dir en Grey (warning, video has disturbing contents)
10. H.S. by Tom Cardy, because everyone deserves to hear it :3
Some of these were impossible, lmao. I changed the Gorillaz and SCISSOR songs about 40 times.
With this out of the way, YES. I agree, social media has long stopped being a place to genuinely connect with others. At least, it feels this way to me. Not that there weren't problems with places like Livejournal and Myspace back in the day, of course there was, people are people, but our lives were less commodified.
I don't mind at all, I'll do the same! Welcome on in!
