Name: Cassie
Age:/42
I mostly post about: books - generally not book reviews, but talking about the books I'm reading, squeeing over them, themed lists, book memes/surveys (Top Ten Tuesday, Book Blogger Hop, that kind of thing), sharing bookish stats, musings on genres. And a lot of death by TBR
Basically, I love to read and I love to talk about books.
My hobbies are: shockingly, reading. And collecting books which is absolutely a different hobby.
I've nearly always got music on (I'm currently in my Swiftie Era), and when I don't have my nose in a book, I enjoy cozy gaming and try to watch far too many TV shows. I sometimes write fanfiction too.
My fandoms are:Stargate SG-1 is pretty much the only real fandom I'm but other than when I read the terrible books, it probably won't get posted about here because this is my bookish side-blog. (my main blog is
badfalcon)
Bookwise, I read pretty much anything except high fantasy/the heroes journey and I've never tried a western (but never say never).
When asked what type of book I like, my general answer is a very facetious 'ones with words in them'.
My favourite genres are urban fantasy, chick-lit, science-fiction, history, historical, popular science and horror. I've been on a huge memoir kick this year.
If you ask me my favourite book, I will likely freeze in terror because... HAH!
My favourite authors include Poppy Z Brite, Anne Rice, Stephen King, Ali McNamara, Christie Barlow, Dan Jones, Andrea Penrose, Nancy Warren, Bill Bryson and Matthew Reilly
I'm looking to meet people who: enjoy books, and talking about them. We don't even have to enjoy the same kinds of books, just the love for them and sharing that love.
My posting schedule tends to be: I aim for three or four times a week but sometimes life runs away from me and I realise it's been weeks since I've posted
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: This can best be summed up in the immortal words of Wil Wheaton 'don't be a dick'
Before adding me, you should know: I am non-binary, queer, autistic, adhd, agoraphobic, depressed, disabled and very stubborn. My pronouns are they/them. I'm a huge geek and will fangirl excitedly at the drop of a hat over many things.

I'd love to be friends, and I've added you - nice to meet you :)

I think I would love to read your journal, as I am also a huge bookworm and love hearing about what others are currently reading. (Side note: I've seen you around with your main account in the "thestoryinside" community on here and have been wanting to ask if you'd like to be friends ;))
I am a fellow Swiftie as well, identify as demigirl, queer, deal with depression & am very possibly on the autism spectrum (it is currently nigh impossible to get a diagnosis where I live, so that's why I say very possibly).
So I think we'd get along, at least we have a bunch of things in common :)
Want to give it a try?

I do chat about reading/books in my journal, although its not a sole focal point. (I write about daily stuff, mostly, along with my other hobbies - like WoW.)
Is it cool to add you?

Hello!
I post about books sometimes, mostly reviews with a random assortment of cookbooks, gaming manuals, speculative fiction novels, and whatever else. These sometimes lead to discussions.
>> When asked what type of book I like, my general answer is a very facetious 'ones with words in them'.<<
Nailed it. :D
Can you believe people think that reading 3 books on a topic makes you an expert? Then what if you've read all the books a library has on a topic? Or the whole library?
>> Before adding me, you should know: I am non-binary, queer, autistic, adhd, agoraphobic, depressed, disabled and very stubborn. My pronouns are they/them. I'm a huge geek and will fangirl excitedly at the drop of a hat over many things.<<
There's a lot of overlap there with what I read and write, and me and the people in my audience. Feel free to drop by my blog and see if you like it.
Re: Hello!
So we're friends over on my main blog (

That genuinely astounds me - I've read many more than 3 books on Ancient Greece in the last couple of years while studying Classics and still don't feel qualified to write essays or have an opinion on what the experts are saying. I'm working on that but still.
Re: Hello!
Oh, cool.
>> That genuinely astounds me <<
Yeah, me too. I've inhaled entire libraries and lined my house with books. The only topics I've read less than 3 books about tend to be A) things I don't care that much about, B) things I can't find anymore books on, or C) things where I felt one or two books gave me as much information as I needed.

Everyone is entitled to their informed opinion. If you're not forming your own ideas about something, you're not really engaging with it. It's okay if the first ideas you have don't pan out, or you change your mind later as you learn more. Just grab two handfuls of something and start banging them together to see what happens. The Classics are robust and will survive your manhandling. Also they're pretty structured, thus fun to take apart to see how they work. And you can always compare them to modern storytelling or current events to see what has changed or stayed the same.

It's not hoarding when it's books - it's a collection *grin* And it's a collection I'm proud of, having worked on it for many years!

And that's a very good point!
