AGE: Twenty-something

INTERESTS & HOBBIES: Mostly LEARNING, CREATING, NATURE, and FOOD (I do a lot of cooking and baking when I have the time and resources). Also witchcraft and vulture culture, science and social science, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, spirituality, and anything to do with camping or farming.
FANDOMS? I was a Potterhead as a kid, loved Supernatural until the end of Season 5, and have been desperately trying to catch up on Vikings and Game of Thrones. I'm also into cartoons like Hilda, Steven Universe, and the new She-Ra.

LOOKING FOR: people with similar interests, slice-of-life journals, maybe some recipe swapping or a new snail-mail pen pal?

ANYTHING ELSE?: I'm new to DW so bear with me as I learn the ropes. I don't go heavy into fandom stuff, but I might nerd out about school or talk about parenting because I do have a 3-year-old daughter. Basically, I'm more of a slice-of-life slash poetry journaler than anything else.

I know we all deride three year olds as "Threenagers", but it's really a great year! Next year is gonna be even better, because four year olds are great. (Except for the part where they figure out how to Use Their Words and we all wish they hadn't, but meh.)

It sounds like we have a lot in common. I post original writing, nature, food, and links to whatever catches my eye online. Please drop by my blog and see what you think.

I'm 40, with a 7 year old daughter, and love talks of parenting, school, slice of life and poetry. I'm very much into learning and creating. I was very much into snail mail for many years, but sadly don't seem to have the energy for it these days. I write poetry and I am working - very slowly - on a novel. I am a teacher, and I spent a lot of time trying to choose between teaching and social work (which I saw is what you are studying). I'm also in Ontario. I love nature and have a weird relationship with food, very little patience for cooking, but I like learning about it. I have not posted much lately, as it has been a busy and stressful time for me, but I have journalled online for many years and found that I seem to slow down or check out altogether in the fall, and get back into it with a lot of enthusiasm around Christmas time, which is just around the corner... Friends?

Absolutely! I've been doing international pen friends for a while now, so I'm super up for it.

I'm into those cartoons, too! I don't chat a lot of fandom, but I like slice-of-life and writing (and cooking, honestly!)

Reading your intro was amazing. I'd love to read your work and otherwise keep up.

Yes, if the tarot deck gives you tingles it wants you to take it home! I had never heard that you weren't supposed to buy your first deck when I got my first one (about 10 years ago now). I don't know how someone else could know what resonates with you to get a tarot deck as a gift, unless you told them exactly what to buy.

Oh, I've heard people say that about tarot cards, I just hadn't heard it 10 years ago, when I bought my first deck. :)

I've also heard it said about a Ganesh for your home, that it should be a gift.

You sound neat. I feel like all I do is talk about food these days (I tend to fixate on hobbies and balancing my diet and eating are my two fixations/luxuries at the moment) and I don't think I'll be changing anytime soon until Christmas is over.

Hilda and SU should find you a decent amount of people. I really enjoy the animation style of the former and the latter has been really satisfying me, plot-wise.

Is it all right to add you?

Ha ha! I keep going back and forth on the ratios, because I just had a normal gummy and I kept thinking about how much chewier the store stuff is, so I kept going back and forth with myself! Like I keep thinking I should have this chewy experience like Haribo, but it's coming out more like those fancy Japanese gummies that are more expensive anyway. So I should be internally flattered about that, right?

But I still want to figure out the secrets here about how they do it!

I'm up to a ratio of 1 tablespoon/quarter cup of liquid. It's really firm and I'm afraid of adding more because the process for mixing half the liquid is already really thick and oatmealy.

I realized that adding acid to the gummies also gives it more zing, and now I'm afraid it's overcoming the subtler flavors.

I'm sure I'm drama queening this entire experience, which is why I feel even worse about it, hah! But at least I sent out the second attempts along with some store packaged stuff as a subtle apology if they're disappointing.

I will say this though: I'm going to invest in Sodastream stuff more than ever since I know I can make a proper soda gummy now (give or take the awful texture >_<). If I get smart enough with the timing, maybe I'll get a syringe and inject un-mixed syrup into the center if I get smart enough about it.

On the bright side, I think even if I do a 2 tablespoon to 1 cup ratio, I can probably dry them out enough and get a smoother product with less chew, which might be a good thing.

Oh, maybe I can do maple gummies too as a replacement syrup? Yeesh, those are going to be expensive to make though (says the guy who is buying soda syrup for cheap candies).

I doubt you expected this rant about me nerding out with my results, so I'll just stop here and say "thank you and hope you keep enjoying my neurotic misadventures (and vica-versa)!"
