INTERESTS & HOBBIES: I like trying to be as active as possible. I go drinking with friends. BBQs, karaoke, going for walks, sometimes playing basketball. I'm a noob at most everything, but I also like fishing, and basketball, and trying to make stuff. I fail most times but I also like cooking and gardening. On the "fandomish" side? I like (exclusively) JRPGs, horror, pretty much any-supernaturally based TV show, fantasy movies (kids' movies and Pixar/Disney included), and rock/metal/electronic music.

LOOKING FOR: I'm not exactly picky, but I don't like or read fanfiction, if that's all you post. If you don't mind me ignoring that part of your journal we can be friends.

ANYTHING ELSE?: I live in Japan. Pretty much permanently. Since it's my life and I'm used to it, there's not a whole lot of "squee! Japan" but if you're interested in what it's like being a foreigner trying to spend her life here, read on.

I studied Japanese, the language, culture et al and at one point wanted to live there though I did not go beyond visiting for awhile. I remember acutely feeling how far away it was/is from everything else, in a sense. I suppose it depends which "everything" is meant.

At any rate, you sound cool!

I love fandom and whatnot though I do not really post much about it. Mostly about random life things. :)

There are definitely things that might be difficult to describe to folks who have never been there or studied the language and culture. :D
I found it simultaneously really friendly but also sort of cool (as in cold, a little standoffish) probably because I was a foreigner. :S

I'm also a foreigner trying to make her life here - an American in England, in my case. I update when I have something to say, and time to write it. I write about life, or about thoughts rolling around in my head; I don't do fanfiction. I like cooking; I tend to kill plants; I am in a variety of community groups that keep me busy.

Possibly give it a go?

A bit late, and I'm just recently starting to post in my journal, but I'm to move to Japan for work soon and am interested in how other foreigners make their lives there. I love cooking, gardening and JRPGs as well!
