NAME: Melissa

AGE: 28...the year I stop counting.

INTERESTS: I'm pretty eclectic - I have a huge interest in my particular fandom (it used to be fandoms but has now dwindled to one) - that's my happy bubble place. I spend as much time thinking about that as possible because it's more fun than thinking about work or my commute or my screwy family. I'm not a huge TV or movie watcher - for movies, I mostly stick to romantic comedies, for TV it's Mad Men, Project Runway, and an unhealthy amount of Food Network. I started teaching myself how to make beaded jewelry last year and am determined to actually use all the supplies I bought eventually, and can spend hours browsing the internet looking for random information. Seriously, looking one thing up on Wikipedia can start a domino effect. I'm a bit of a newshound, but usually only after-the-fact - I'm more likely to read about things that happened a year, five, ten and more years ago than current events.

HOBBIES: If I had my way, I would never have to work a real job again and would spend all my time writing with my BFF/life partner. Unfortunately, the world just doesn't work that way, but we still take every chance we get. I also spend tons of time playing games (Sims 2 and Sims 3, plus Facebook games), making graphics, beading, watching TV, listening to music, reading, cuddling our adorable cat...basically doing anything that's not somehow work or chores.

LOOKING FOR: I'm looking for other eclectic people that share at least a few common interests. An interest in fandom (it doesn't have to be mine, but that would be nice) helps - I don't want friends who are going to look down on my fandom-flailing posts. I want people who are open, tolerant, curious, and friendly...you don't have to comment on my every post, but a certain level of involvement would be nice. Sharing some of the same ideas and positions is always a plus, too - I'm pretty liberal, and definitely consider myself a straight ally for gay rights, was raised Catholic but consider myself more spiritual/non-religious now. Oh, and if you'd like to friend me, you should have a high tolerance for cursing - I have a sailor's vocabulary and use it. Frequently.

ANYTHING ELSE?: I'm sure there's a hundred things I'm missing, but if something in my post catches your eye or makes you curious, please do ask - I really don't bite and I'd love to find new people to talk to and interact with - my lists (LJ and DW) have been depleted by Real Life, that witch.

Ok, taking a deep breath here.. Not really good at this sort of thing but am looking to enhance my reading pleasure.

I'm new to DW but not to online journaling.  Been writing on another site for awhile.  Trying to get used to how things operate over here.

I'm kinda hard to pin down & I'm definitely not everyone's cup o' tea.

Probably older than most.  Desperately hanging onto my 30s.  Married Mom of 3.  Reader.  Quiet.  Imperfect Christian.

I just write about what's going on in my life, which largely involves my kids.  Not a soccer Mom by any stretch of the imagination. Just your normal, everyday, run-of-the-mill American.  I keep to myself a lot.

I'm also finding that the older I get, the more conservative I become.

Hoping to find someone w/ similar interests & values.

Hi There.

I've met some very interesting folks through this community. Things have gotten quiet on my reading list lately so I decided it was time to meet more folks. :)

I'm a witch, freelance software developer, house-spouse, and aspiring farmer in her late twenties. I love crafty pursuits such as sewing and crochet, but I do some scrap-booking on occasion. I'm also an avid reader and sometimes late to the party (right now I'm digesting the entire Harry Potter series). I'm not very fannish, though I love me some good Star Trek TNG or Harry Potter fic on occasion.

I'm owned by my long-time companion Ms. Bird (icon), and we have chickens, turkeys, and guinea fowl who provide us with excellent insect control, eggs and amusement. We also have two large, lovable mutt puppies who would rather lick intruders to death rather than bark. There are plans in place to fence off part of our property to raise goats, at which point we will officially be considered farmers (our chicken/turkey/guinea fowl operation is intentionally small-scale).

I'm married to the love of my life, and we're currently expecting our first kiddo. We couldn't be more excited! And nervous!

My spiritual beliefs are Dianic in nature. I'm a social liberal/fiscal conservative and therefore don't really fit neatly into any political category used here in the US. I tend to lean Democrat because they tend to piss me off the least. Sometimes I post about political things that make me rage.

I'm a sporadic poster who sometimes goes a couple of weeks between updates, but I always read my subscription list every few days at a minimum. The vast majority of my pregnancy/child related rambling is confined to an opt-in access filter, so if that isn't your thing I take no offense (though let me know if that is your thing!). I would love to meet anyone who finds me interesting, especially crafty, pagan folk and/or those who have been through the whole pregnancy and/or child rearing experience.
