NAME: Melissa
AGE: 28...the year I stop counting.
INTERESTS: I'm pretty eclectic - I have a huge interest in my particular fandom (it used to be fandoms but has now dwindled to one) - that's my happy bubble place. I spend as much time thinking about that as possible because it's more fun than thinking about work or my commute or my screwy family. I'm not a huge TV or movie watcher - for movies, I mostly stick to romantic comedies, for TV it's Mad Men, Project Runway, and an unhealthy amount of Food Network. I started teaching myself how to make beaded jewelry last year and am determined to actually use all the supplies I bought eventually, and can spend hours browsing the internet looking for random information. Seriously, looking one thing up on Wikipedia can start a domino effect. I'm a bit of a newshound, but usually only after-the-fact - I'm more likely to read about things that happened a year, five, ten and more years ago than current events.
HOBBIES: If I had my way, I would never have to work a real job again and would spend all my time writing with my BFF/life partner. Unfortunately, the world just doesn't work that way, but we still take every chance we get. I also spend tons of time playing games (Sims 2 and Sims 3, plus Facebook games), making graphics, beading, watching TV, listening to music, reading, cuddling our adorable cat...basically doing anything that's not somehow work or chores.
LOOKING FOR: I'm looking for other eclectic people that share at least a few common interests. An interest in fandom (it doesn't have to be mine, but that would be nice) helps - I don't want friends who are going to look down on my fandom-flailing posts. I want people who are open, tolerant, curious, and friendly...you don't have to comment on my every post, but a certain level of involvement would be nice. Sharing some of the same ideas and positions is always a plus, too - I'm pretty liberal, and definitely consider myself a straight ally for gay rights, was raised Catholic but consider myself more spiritual/non-religious now. Oh, and if you'd like to friend me, you should have a high tolerance for cursing - I have a sailor's vocabulary and use it. Frequently.
ANYTHING ELSE?: I'm sure there's a hundred things I'm missing, but if something in my post catches your eye or makes you curious, please do ask - I really don't bite and I'd love to find new people to talk to and interact with - my lists (LJ and DW) have been depleted by Real Life, that witch.

The apprentice cat lady (on your profile), the never working and writing with your life partner, the music, reading, fandom, etc, all sound very familiar *as I sit beside the BF and write*

Ditto on the fandom flailings - not so much lately, but if you check out my tags there's plenty XD

Definitely adding you! :)

Semi-crazed cat-lady who loved the Sims, and reading and writing and at least sometimes has the ambition to be something very different. (Though a fair note of warning - I do not have a fandom I'm interested in. That does not mean I have any problem with others having one (or two, or three or two thousand) - I have quite a few friends who are that way! :))

I'm veering in crazy cat lady status, love baseball, trying to get back into writing, and if we stop counting birthdays at 28 (good idea, by the way), I stopped counting 4 years ago.
Oh, and as far as fandom goes, I don't really have many, but irregardless, I have no problem with my friends discussing theirs. :)

I feel like a lot of the people who stop counting do so at 29, which to me gives off a perpetually waiting vibe. 28 is a much nicer number.
Adding you!

I've also been beading for going on a decade now (...which is. A thought.) and I admit that your interest in it caught my eye! Want to try making a go of it?
