I'm Robert, I'm 31 years old and I live in the UK. I work full-time in an office, and in my free-time I love movies (pretty much any kind), reading, writing and listening to music.

I've literally just joined Dreamwidth so there isn't much on my journal right now. It is friends-only. Pretty much it consists of various stuff about my day to day life with a lot about movies and books and so on.

Hello, all. :)

I find myself on DW after seeing LJ shoot itself in the foot, but unfortunately I now have a surprisingly thin Friends list and the desire to read interesting entries. So here I am, tapdancing with sparklers in the hope that someone will find me OMG TEH FASSINATING!

Who am I? Let's see... a cat lover, as mentioned. Bisexual (although I don't post that much about gay matters; for me that's a very personal matter, although I do take part in my city's annual gay pride march). Happily married for fifteen years to a fellow bisexual. Freelance commercial artist who works in comics (company names removed to protect the innocent, but you'll see the occasional post about work pressures, deadlines, and other joys of the freelance artist life). Wiccan for sixteen years (and facilitating a monthly worship group, so there'll be posts about that from time to time as well and also reflections on the state of affairs in the wider Wiccan community).

I'm a member of the convention committee for my city's annual sci-fi con (yes, I'm a little bit nuts). Reader and writer of fan fiction (The Matrix, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, and ReBoot for the most part, with some Real Ghostbusters and guilty-pleasure Knight Rider thrown in). My fanfics tend to be PG-13 to NC-17, and they're always slashy. If you'd like to be put on the Fan Fiction filter so you can read them please let me know.

Healthwise: diabetic, treatment-resistant depression, and adventures at the very low end of the Borderline Personality Disorder spectrum. Most of that is under control now, but if I do feel compelled to post about the black dogs I'll kennel them behind a cut.

I'm working on two NaNo novels, one of which has been provisionally accepted for publication, so expect extra highjinks and shenanigans come November 1st.

I tend to blog about strange aspects of my day, interesting links, and any subject that I find weird or amusing. My posts are occasionally happy and sweet, but tend more toward the snarky and vitriolic. Be ye warned. ;) Oh, and most of my journal entries are friendslocked, so if you're scanning my DW and don't see anything of particular weight or interest, that's probably why.

What I'm looking for in a DW friend: intelligence, thoughtfulness, curiousity, an open mind. I don't mind posts about Internet and cultural ephemera and generally find other points of view quite fascinating as long as nobody ends up getting burned at the stake. I don't comment on every entry on my Friends page, but I do read all posts and will offer feedback if I feel it would be useful.

Well, I suppose it's time to bite the bullet and get some friends on here.

I'm from the awful lands of Livejournal, where I've been since 2002. Thankfully, DW opened it's caring arms and took me in like a lot of other folks when Livejournal decided to be an asshat.

Music: I paint a broad stroke over music. I can be found listening to Classical one moment, and Russian rock in the next. I listen to Country, Rap, Alternative, Hard Rock, etc.
Random Life Likes: Dogs! My life revolves around animals, with a focus on dog training. I enjoy traveling in my little Honda Civic, taking pictures of anything and everything along the way. I love spiders, reptiles, felines, etc. Photography has graced me with an immense amount of appreciation for all walks of life. I also LOVE languages. I'm obsessed really. I'm currently learning Western dialect Tsalagi, but have dabbled in Russian and Mandarin as well.

My journal is typically filled with posts about day-to-day stuff. I enjoy posting pictures, typically of my pets or wildlife. I will babble incoherently on some nights about things that really don't matter, more so if I've had some sleeping medicine. It's sort of like drunk dialing, but better.

Hey, look, it’s another LJ escapee.

Anyway, important points:
I am a 21-year-old Virginian currently majoring in wildlife conservation at a small college in an oh-so stereotypical small American town in Pennsylvania. I have an unhealthy obsession with refrigerated Reese’s Pieces and cheap wine. If it’s Russian, I probably love it, and I’m big on road trips (and other kinds of trips, but road trips especially) and vintage cars. I am a dirty, barefoot, tree-hugging, animal-loving hippy, even though I sometimes pretend not to be. I try not to get up on my soapbox, but occasionally I fail and write up a rant of epic proportions.

When not whittling away at the epic amount of homework I always have piled up, I can be found playing way too much Left 4 Dead 2 and Sims 3, horseback riding, wandering aimlessly around town, reading five books at a time, and writing things I never finish. Other hobbies include: photography, drawing, hiking, travelling, crocheting, playing my guitar, and stuff I can’t think of right now, but there’s more. I like trying new things

Belief-wise, I’m an agnostic independent. I like my fences. Sometimes I talk about religion because I love religions and sometimes I rant about politics because politics and politicians make me angry, but usually I steer clear of those two subjects on my journal because I don’t think about them too much.

My DW is just a baby right now, but as someone who’s been blogging for a long time I can say: I’m fairly sporadic in my posting in that I can either post daily or weekly or somewhere in between (but I always post at least once a week unless I’m on a trip or something). However, I check my friends reading list every day and I comment whenever I have something to say, which is often. My entries are usually about day-to-day happenings (most often things I thought were funny or things that really pissed me off). I very rarely get angsty, but it does happen.

All I want in a friend is someone who is 1) fairly tolerant, 2) interesting, and 3) going to drop a comment once in a while (I don’t demand comments on everything).
