Obligatory Introductory Post

Hello!

I’m an 18-year-old English and Jamaican girl who was born and raised in Toronto. I’m an anachronist, an INTP, and a bit of a loser. I’m the girl who makes back stories for all her video game characters.

Even I don’t have time to list every artist I like, but the genres I like are classical, funk, jazz, old school hip hop, and soul. Octavia E. Butler is my favorite author and the Savage Love podcast is my favorite, period. I’ll watch anything with Keith David or Jeremy Irons in it.

Other stuff I like: 90’s anime, alternative (stand up) comedy, astrology, history, shitty cop shows, shitty erotica, underground comics

You probably shouldn’t add me if you don’t want to read about mental health issues (depression, OCD, SAD), non-fandom, or sex. I don’t mind at all if you’re religious, as long as you’re not self-righteous and are respectful of other people’s faiths. Writers of original works are also quite welcome.

So... yeah.

Oh, I have totally never done that. >.> <.< >.> In fact, back stories and expanding stories for computer game characters is how I started writing fiction. (I write original fic these days, but some of it is very loosely based on some of those old fanfics.)

Historyyy. Out of curiosity, is there any period or subject that particularly interests you? I'm interested in Ancient Near-East and Alexander the Great, with a side-interest in some aspects of medieval history (mostly the part where they thought stuff like the Alexander Romance and Prester John was real - the way myth and reality were defined very differently to now) and Central Asian history/culture.

I'm interested in making new friends on DW, so do you mind if I add you?

Combining female badassery and the Near-East: Tomyris, who killed Cyrus the Great and dunked his head in a bucket of blood. One of my projects for the next few months is to determine whether there's any scope to write an MA thesis about her, when I go back to uni in 2012.

Stories about her are, apparently, still told in Central Asia to this day. BADASS.
