Come along fool.
Hey!
Like everyone else, I have moved from LJ. I like to blog because I tend to have pretty intense emotions, and blogging is one of my biggest cathartic tools (others include baths and violently lip-syncing.) I also have a very small social network of close friends, and I find that internet friends add to that-- and often are better then real life friends in many ways.
But, what is your journal actually about? you may be asking yourself.
Well, my journal contains information about my day to day life. I try to avoid play by plays, at least of minute details. My journal mainly consists of ranting.
Current topics I write about:
-I am a senior in college. I am really stressed out because I am taking five classes, two of which are "writing intensive," and writing a thesis. After switching my majors at least five times, I've settled on sociology. (I love the study because it shows how social constructs like gender, race, etc affect individuals.) I also minor in Creative Writing because I love to write. I also participate in an honors society and run the student literary magazine. This is a lot of pressure.
-I am worried about what I should do next year. Part of me things I should get a job before I go to grad school to save money. But, there aren't many jobs. I am also wondering if I should move from a frigid New England state to California, an expensive place, to go to school. I have never lived on my own financially, and I have never been that far away from my support system.
-I have a history of what is usually termed "mental health" issues. As I said earlier, I just experience things intensely. This doesn't help things.
-I recently cut off contact with my father and his family (my parents are divorced.) This is also taking it's toll.
-I have a boyfriend I care about a lot. But, I think I'm gay.
This is what I tend to write about. Here are a few cultural interests, in case you really want to know:
-Music: Blind Melon, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre
Authors: Albee, Gottlieb, Block
Movies: Todd Solondz
But, I don't write about fandoms a lot.
ADD ME DREAMWIDTHERS!
