Hello!

Hello there! I'm yet another LJ escapee, part of the general stampede that, ah, recent events seem to have triggered, although I've been thinking about migrating for a while now. My old friends list has been kind of static for quite a while, and it's been getting in need of waking up.

Anyway, I'm looking for company now that I'm established over here.

About me ... well, briefly, I'm a PhD student in my late twenties. I live near London (in Hertfordshire, as it happens). My PhD is in astronomy (the project is to do with brown dwarfs, as it happens). I'm just currently coming to the end of my second year (eeep!). I talk a bit about the PhD on here every now and again, although I don't tend to be overly technical. In addition to student-news I've also worked in the so-called 'Real World', in finance and also local government (all of which were eye-opening experiences, to say the least!).

Things I write about in my journal ... well, I'm interested in politics, art, astronomy, science generally, books and science fiction in particular. When it's on I talk a lot about Doctor Who :) and another big TV series for me was the re-boot of BSG. (Or at least it was until about half way through Series 4, when it seemed to me to go a bit pear-shaped ... but that's a rant for elsewhere!)

I also write a fair bit about random day to day stuff.

My journal is friends-only, but if you think I sound interesting, please feel free to add me or comment here.
