I am not a LiveJournal refugee - the entire crossposting scandal didn't really affect me in anyway, so I didn't feel a need to move. I am, however, noticing a lack of updates from my current friends list. Since DW is the closest thing to LJ, I'm giving it a shot. I'm hoping to make new friends :)

I really am not good at making profile posts, so I thought I would give you ten random facts about myself :) I hope someone finds them interesting enough to add me:

* I am a Veterinary Technician student, and I work in an animal hospital. Since working there, I have discovered veterinary clinics really do show you the good and bad side of people. It is insane how terrible people can be over their animals. On the flip side of this, the owners that are legit concerned about their pets well being make the bad ones worth it.

* I am a Trekkie. A full fledged "deck my room out like the bridge of the Enterprise" Trekkie. This also goes along with my undying love obsession with Deforest Kelley. In addition to this, I am very active in the current Star Trek fandom. I am a fanfiction writer, and I do write for the fandom. It isn't often, but it does happen.

* My other fandoms include Doctor Who, Star Wars, Fringe, Lost, Heroes, Digimon, and Harry Potter. There are more, but I am sick and braindead xD

* I am allergic to cinnamon. It's really rather ridiculous.

* Every year I participate in National Novel Writing Month. This means every November, I set myself a goal of 50,000+ words to finish in 30 days. I have won this for the past four years. I will usually grumble about NaNo and share little snippits of it during this time :)

* I currently own: three cats, a dog, two ferrets, a rat, and a husband :) (Kidding on the owning the husband)

* One of my major passions in life is ancient Egypt, specifically the 18th dynasty. It's crazy and messed up and one of the most epic mysteries of all time.

* I have one tattoo - it is on my left wrist and is of the Egyptian sun god, Aten. It is a reference to my above obsession :)

* I love all things concerning medicine, but I don't like to watch medical dramas. I find most of them aren't anywhere near what it is like to be a doctor or in the medical practice. They're simply for amusement, and therefore lose my interest. I much prefer watching Monsters Inside Me, and other such things :D

* My blog will consist of my life - my family, my friends, my work. I wish I could say that my life is completely drama free. Sadly, it is not. I have a lot of fears, and hopes, and dreams. I have a lot of depressing times that happen to me. I do try to make every post end on a good note - I refuse to have blogs that talk about me wanting to die all the time. I can't guarantee, however, that every post will be super thrilling. I'm a human being :)

I hope there is someone that will find me slightly interesting. I love meeting people :) I love to talk, and I really love having a RELATIONSHIP. I don't just want comments. I want to get to know you. I'm not asking for a best friend, but I love to be involved in people's lives, even if that just means I read about your day. To me, that's all I need. I don't have any specific guidelines. Add me if you find me interesting :D But please, do tell me a little about yourself!!

Hello and welcome!

I'm also a DW newbie. Here's me in a nutshell:

I'm a 23 year old post-grad, and I still identify as an English major (writing emphasis, anthropology minor). This season in my life is being defined by authenticity and honesty. It has a lot to do with my relationship with God, but also my relationships with people in my life, online or off. I'm also fond of community and relationships, and while I'm not always one to comment, I'm always around and enjoy getting to know others on my flist.

I'm into enjoying the little things in life, tea, and books, and my journals is generally a good mix of all of the above ^.^

I've changed majors three times in my college career - my first was psychology, my second was Literature, and my third is Veterinary Technology. So you speak to me on all levels there :D Little things are amazing to look for in life - it's harder to appreciate them, but I'm very slowly learning to.

I also have an Egyptian tattoo... it's on my right wrist and is The eye of Horus ♥. :-).
I love STar trek as well... haven't seen that much of the old series but I have seen the movies :-). I'm working my way through Star Trek Enterprise at the moment.
I'm 32, live in Sweden, I have a gf who lives in USA, I have a cat and a dog and I live in an attached house together with my older sis. We bought the house together. If this sounds remotely interesting then please add me and I'll add you right back :-)!

the only medical type show i can do is scrubs, because it's funny. i can't do medical dramas. they bore me.

I'm Laurie, a 45-year-old comic book colorist with one elderly cat and a husband pushing sixty. I do NaNo as well, hoping that the Month of DOOM doesn't correspond with a bout of depression (which has, fortunately, been under control more than not, at least lately). I used to be a Star Trek fan in my twenties but now, alas, not so much.

Hiya, I know you got a ton of responses, but are you still looking for more friends? I'd be happy to join the fray, if so! ^_^

I'm a huge animal lover, so anyone who works to try and save/help them has my utmost respect, especially since I could never do veterinary work myself (it would be way too emotional for me), so, I think those who can handle it are super awesome! And, you're made even more super awesome by loving Deforest Kelley, he was the best!! Him and Leonard Nimoy made that show, man. Star Trek TOS was epic! hehe.

I used to have 2 dogs and 5 cats, grew up with that group for the better part of my life in fact. Now, my mom is down to just the last cat, sadness. I've also had ferrets, dwarf hamsters, mice, gerbils, snakes, a frog, and many many fish. ;P

I like Egypt too, but I'm more into mythology stuff, the gods and everything, though I don't know as much about Egyptian, I know more Greek/Roman. I've just been lazy and not pursued the Egyptian line as much. Eventually, I will get there! haha.

So, anyway, I think we could get along really well! Friends? ^_^

Don't worry about it, everyone has their ups & downs, and what's a journal for if not to let out all that kinda stuff? I could never blame anyone for going through a rough time and writing about it!

hehe, that's a fun thing to collect. I actually don't think I really have any god/mythology items, aside from the little water jug with Poseidon on it that was decorated in an authentic fashion (we got it in Santorini). Well, and some Buddhas. haha.
