i used to be super active on livejournal, mainly in the icon community. i made a dreamwidth account as livejournal was fading, but i didn't really connect to the site and with irl changes i ended up leaving this part of the internet altogether. i've been reminiscing and have wanted to get back into "journaling", so i'm giving dreamwidth a proper go this time around.

i mostly post about: life updates and the occasional book review. i dealt with a lot of changes last year and a major loss at the end of january, so i'm navigating this new chapter (that sounds so corny) and just want to document the ups & downs as i experience them.

my posting schedule tends to be: for now, i'd say sporadic, maybe a few times a week.

my interests: reading, bookish content (new/upcoming releases, challenges, etc), horror, thanatology (see: Caitlin Doughty), arts/crafts, trying new recipes/cooking, hockey (nhl & pwhl), the sims 4, historical facts, theatre, concerts, cleaning/weekend reset videos (specific fandoms) lord of the rings, the boys, sailor moon, three days grace, prison break, jujutsu kaisen, tokyo revengers, schitts creek, supernatural, gundam seed, mcu

my dealbreakers are: aggressive or continuous political content; i'm well aware of what's happening in the world and i have no problem with people who want to discuss or vent, but i have no desire in befriending anyone who is consumed by politics (especially whatever trump is up to). anti-lgbt, conservatives/traditionalists, ableists.

before adding me, you should know: i have social anxiety; i have good days and bad days. i might come off as standoffish, but i promise i'm not. i love reading/hearing about other people's experiences and getting a glimpse into their lives. i'm just too nervous to approach them lol

I'm Tina, 37 and live in Germany and I think we would get along. I also love reading, horror, cooking, history, concerts and pretty much write about my life. I make a weekly "What are you reading Wednesday" post and enjoy seeing what other people read, and generally getting a glimpse into people's daily lives.

As for the social anxiety, I can relate - I do not have an anxiety disorder myself but I do deal with anxiety a lot, and I have other mental illnesses so I am totally understanding about such struggles. I am interested in politics but I almost never write about them on here.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you: I deleted my LJ, um, I think around 2016? Whenever it went under Russian terms & conditions. I imported my LJ over to DW, but haven't done much with it until recently. (I use the term "much" loosely.) I'm inspired to get back to journaling like how I did during my LJ era since I want to go back to analog so bad! (I never really think of LJ or DW as social media.)

My interests on my profile are from my LJ profile. (It hurt me to delete my LJ, and I still can't bring myself to start fresh on my interests.) I work as a reporter at a small town newspaper with a two-hour round-trip commute, so it's draining on my interests, but I'm trying to get back into fiction writing (romance) and reading. I struggle with decluttering and finances, so that might be the focus of my DW for awhile. I'm also trying to get involved with some drabble communities to get me writing again.

I started posting less and less around then too, but officially "closed shop" in 2019. I posted 10 icons in 2022 and that was it lol I also never really thought of LJ or DW as social media, which is funny because I was 100% the most social on LJ. I met a lot of friends during that time, including one of my closest friends now. I never deleted my LJ, but I deleted my icons and that hurts me now! I've been reminiscing a lot and wish I could look back on my old stuff.

That's really cool that you're a reporter! I hope you're able to get back into writing, it definitely sucks when work takes away from your hobbies.
