I mostly post about:

I write about my learning journey from zero (not really) to masters in Computer Science, with the goal of getting formal admissions into a program under 2 years. I have a lot of IT applied experience, but now I want to be able to master the material and also for myself learn as much as I can about the topics of programming systems, Linux, and math. For math, I really do know very little. I would very much like to improve that.

My hobbies are:

I like to play video games, take walks, and exercise. My favorite games right now are Lord of the Rings Online and Guild Wars. I also play retro games and am going through the Harvest Moon series on the original DS.

My fandoms are:

I don't invest a lot of energy into fandoms. But I like Linux. I think that counts.

I'm looking to meet people who:

Journals about goals, dreams, and ideas. I do enjoy reading about criticisms, first draft essays, and general naval gazing.

My posting schedule tends to be: daily/weekly/monthly/sporadic/etc

Sporadic with a weekly update on what I'm learning.

I want to avoid negative spaces, so if you are constantly ranting about how terrible things are, I understand. I'm going to put a positive energy in my journal.

Hi -- yes, of course we should be mutual if that's okay. I don't intend to write much about my life (but it tends to drift into everything as life does). I see you like rock. And that reminds me that I was at the record store earlier last month to buy the latest Mountain Goats album when the store clerk convinced me to buy a live album of the Tubes. I have never heard of them before, but what he was playing sounded really good. It was like a 5 minute drum solo. When I put on the album, I was bit surprised by it all -- I was both a bit turned off by the lyrical content but compelled by the rock-ness of the music. I was even more surprised to see that they are a glam rock group. My musical tastes used to land toward "hardcore punk" or "emo," but I've landed on Beirut and Mountain Goats as my favorites. This year was a real treat for my camp because I got to play both Beirut and Mountain Goat albums, and they were really good. "Caspian Tiger" was surprisingly good.

Yes, rock music and fitness were the two places I figured we have an overlap.

Coincidentally it appears the Mountain Goats are on the bill at a festival I will likely attend in May. I will have to check out Beirut especially as I am part Lebanese!

I think you will enjoy tMG concert. I'm unsure how to recommend Beirut, as they are so tethered to my memories of college. When I listen to them, it feels comforting and communal.

It's difficult to remember that this was considered the song for so long. I don't think anyone does.

You're in luck, since I dated a few maths majors sequentially in undergrad, and learned this and that about a couple of lesser-known computer systems when I went to Drexel! The mathematics people can be interesting sorts if you get through to them, if on the conservative side.

I also briefly played Harvest Moon, but not very seriously. My HS friend likes it, but I don't talk with her anymore since she moved away. Do you play anything else? I also liked the Zelda series.

I'm a bit panicked about the world, so I sympathize. If you want to be mutual, just know that I won't engage with posts I consider negative for my emotional health (by my own definition and not at all meant as a value judgement). I don't have a precise definition sorry. I'm also by nature very aloof.

Um yeah. STEM and medicine seem to attract certain characters in different parts of the US. With how polarizing social media has gone in the past years, I can't imagine going to college now as an undergraduate. I'm actually afraid to talk much politics here because it's just so crazy bad. I went in conservative and graduated very much not. It would have been a failure of my education to not have changed.

I have just always liked farming sims, especially Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley.

I will be revisiting Zelda, but maybe next year. I did play all of Animal Crossing Game Cube for the past 5 years and drained everything I can do with it. Loved it.
