sad dirty elder millennial commie seeks friends for virtual coffee
Name: Mary Cuntrarian or Kat, my real nickname. She/They
Age: near 40
I mostly post about: Right now my journal is new so I'm not exactly sure but I haven't written anything since about 2015. I'm mostly posting stream of consciousness thoughts and things that won't leave my brain like themes in fiction and in life. I might make my journal friends-only soon since that's a thing I can do and write things that are more personal because my life is sort of a mess at the moment and I need to write it out. I'm an artist and I've been putting a lot of effort into my art career recently so I know I'll be writing about my process and struggles there.
My hobbies are: I dabble in all kinds of painting and crafts, but mostly watercolor and ink. I crochet, do some embroidery, I'm relearning web design and have started making web pages as art and for fun. I used to play more video games but nothing has caught my interest lately but I have played Disco Elysium, Fallout 76, Stardew Valley, Breath of the Wild, some GTA Online, Animal Crossing (Pocket Camp, but it counts!) and other random rpgish games. I also have been playing a lot of Dungeons and Dragons lately, and I love coming up with characters! Trying to get back into writing, right now just blogging but maybe fiction and poetry soon. I don't know if I'll write fanfic, I have started making icons again and I think I'll have fully regressed into my old LJer self if I write fanfic again. Which might not be BAD.
My fandoms are: Currently I have some hyperfixations but I hesitate to call them fandoms in the old fashioned way. I'm less obsessed with things than I used to be but I will say my old fangirl tendencies have popped up a little again.
Right now I'm into The Matrix movies including Resurrections, Neo/Trinity might make me read fic again and I'm also watching Sense8 for the first time and I'm really liking it so I'm in a Wachowski Sisters kinda mood.
I love AEW wrestling and I'll list my favorite wrestlers for you if you care. lol
I'm also watching Legends of Tomorrow and almost done with it, pretty into it and I love Constantine.
I recently read the Southern Reach series and could talk about those books forever. Jeff Vandermeer and Edward Carey are my favorite living authors with Shirley Jackson being my favorite classic writer.
Music I'm fannish about is Lord Huron and Tyler the Creator. I'm into indie hip hop and I've gotten into riot grrrl music for the first time recently.
I'm looking to meet people who: Just want to talk and connect? No bullshit, just sharing random cool thoughts and ideas. I'm a stoner, can we start an internet blunt rotation? lol
I've seen a lot of people saying this online recently but I'm looking for that old internet feeling again. I made a Neocities page, I want to talk to people about shit again and not just tweet a few sentences and hope it gets likes.
My posting schedule tends to be: Sporadic as of late but I'm going to post more now that I'm here. I was posting on tumblr here and there but I felt like there were no conversations to be had there. I'm aiming for once a week at least.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: No bigotry, no terfs, no AI worshippers, MAGA-heads or generally fuckery. I'm basically a dirty commie and I'm not too afraid to talk about it so if that makes you uncomfortable oh well.
Before adding me, you should know: I'm currently struggling quite a bit in life, lost a lot of my agency and control because of lack of money, lost my apartment, and my general sense of self so I might talk about that at times. I'm disabled and queer, neurodivergent and cannot find a job to save my life and currently live with my partner and their family which is rough. If you don't want to hear about my personal bullshit from time to time, I'm probably not the person to follow.

Ha, I feel like a teenager too and it really sucks most days but hey you only live once might as well be young twice! :P
I'm so bad at keeping a journal in real life but when I was on Livejournal back in the day I definitely wrote all the time. I should write more privately but at least this will get me back in the swing of things, hopefully. Adding you now! :)

Most of the k-dramas I watch are romance-first and this is no different; I can't speak to the quality of the mystery. But I enjoyed watching them gradually growing from mistrust to trust with each other, and how much of that was happening in their heads.

Re: Elder Millennial *waves*
Currently playing a homebrew D&D campaign with a small group of close friends, our party is level nine. (I've rolled a Halfling Monk.) We try for weekly sessions, but it doesn't always happen. But we've done one shots together; I've played a Half-Elf Sorceress and a Half-Elf Rogue.
What about you? When you play D&D, what characters do you roll?
I'm also an avid World of Warcraft player. I joke I've played the game for eighteen years and absolutely don't act like it. *laughs*
You've mentioned a bunch of games in your post. What's your current fixation?

Adding! I used to be a huge Supernatural fan as well but I fell off before the show ended. My partner and I did start a rewatch of it recently but fell off of that haha I still want to rewatch/finish the whole series one day!

Re: Elder Millennial *waves*
Fernanda Porter, a Minotaur who is a Barbarian Storm Herald. She's a blonde mommy babe who is basically Jennifer Coolidge if she were Thor. She's in a game trying to take down Vecna in the Shadowfell, I believe.
Then I'm playing Fiona Freehops, a Harengon who is a Druid, just Level 3. She's in a cozy game where we do a lot of roleplaying and she's like a hippy peace loving gal but who has a past that mirrors a lot of Watership Down.
And then I'm playing The One They Call Death, a Goliath Barbarian who is Path of the Wild Heart, I think it's called. So they can channel different animal spirits and use their powers. She's like a seven foot tall Daria Morgendorffer, and she only really likes animals and hates people.
Right now D&D probably is my current fixation as far as games go. I haven't been into any video games lately, nothing seems to hold my attention for long. I played the hell out of Fallout 76, for like a year, and then just kinda dropped it from burnout. Are you into any games right now?

I'm looking for more people to add to my flist, because the internet can be a lonely place. We share some hobbies and interests (I craft and do a lot of journaling using mixed media techniques mostly), and some of my favorite videogames include Stardew Valley, Fallout series and random RPGs as well.
Would you like to give it a try?

and why is it Timeless Toni Storm? /shameless projectingMy significant other, for better or worse, got me hooked on WWE two years ago. He correctly used The Shield to lure me in, and now I'm on AO3 proliferating wrestling yaoi because I don't know what else to do with my life, LOL. I'm not mad, though. It killed seven years worth of writer's block. SEVEN. How the fuck? *bashes head against wall*
Anyway, neurodivergent queer commies who lived through the 90s, watch wrestling, and have dabbled in gaming are absolutely my people, so I'd love to be friends if you're down. <3

Yes, she's my favorite! But also Willow Nightingale is high up there for me as well right now. I made a shrine on my website for my favorite wrestlers, it does need to be updated though. I can't handle anything WWE right now because of the um, right wingness of it all, but I do admire some of their wrestlers. I want to get into New Japan wrestling it's just so hard to find to watch.
I adore Jon Moxley and I wish I had been around for his Dean Ambrose years.
Adding you now! :)

I feel that 100% and you're not wrong. It's putrid, and I can't watch as faithfully as I used to, nor do I buy anyone's merch, problematic fave included; however, I can only deny myself so much. I more or less show up for every thrilling installment of the Seth/Roman yaoi divorce drama and the women's roster (Evolution 2 was this year's best PLE, don't care what anyone says).
It's likely I would watch a lot less if my partner weren't a big fan since the Attitude Era, though even he's sick of the putrid politics. The product was so much better just two years ago, ugggggh. It's kinda how I spiraled out into writing unhinged wrestling yaoi in the first place, LOL. If the company won't do right by me, I'll just write the stories I want to see instead.
I wish I was around for Mox's Ambrose years, too. I'm still relatively new to wrestling. I went to the school of YouTube to educate myself on quite a few of these jerks in tights who captivate me. It's something I share with B, so it's still important to me, even though it's tough to deal with right now.

No I understand being obsessed with something that's being produced in a shitty way. lol I just never watched it so I figured I might as well not start now, haha.

These characters sound amazing! I love how distinct they are in their own right. They must be so much fun to play!
What was Fallout 76 like?
And no, just WoW and D&D.
