Name: Mr. Fox

Age: 30-something

I mostly post about:
Stories from my life — my thoughts and feelings, especially during this time of war in Ukraine. I try to capture emotions honestly: memories of a peaceful past, reflections on the present, and tales from my life as a mariner and traveler.
This journal is still in its early days, after a long break from writing. Each entry is posted in both English and the original language. I also share my own photographs — from different times, chosen to reflect my current mood.

My hobbies are:
Photography (almost professional), lomography (daily photos of interesting moments), music (acoustic, alternative, instrumental covers), psychology, and classical literature. I love discovering new things — ideas, places, people.

My fandoms are:

Honestly, I’m not active in any specific fandom. But I enjoy reading and learning, especially to improve my English.

I'm looking to meet people who:
…feel connected to what I write — kindred spirits or simply those who find meaning in my words. I’m open to everyone (with one exception: I don’t welcome those who support or excuse the war). My posts are open and honest. I’d love to find new interesting people to read and connect with.

My posting schedule tends to be:
Currently daily, or a few times a week — depending on my free time.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:
No major dealbreakers — most of what matters is already said above.

Before adding me, you should know:

I’m an open person without any particular agenda. I’m Ukrainian — and perhaps that matters now, just to avoid misunderstandings.
Welcome aboard. These are my messages in a bottle.

I've added you, so you can read my journal and add back if you wish (no worries if you don't want to add back!)

I'll be honest with you, I rent out a part of my home to the local municipality as a safe home for refugees and currently have a Ukrainian Lady living with me. The house is divided in two, so we keep private and have our own apartments, and we have to communicate via Norwegian, which is not easy for either of us!

It would be great for me to have "an eye on the ground" in Ukraine so I can keep abreast of developments so I am aware of what is happening "back home" for her, even if it is just a subtle connection.

Cheers!

It doesn't have to be full on, but I think a subtle feel of everyday life in Ukraine will help. We've had a some hilarious culture clash incidents, but they were pretty funny. Mostly an escalation of gift giving that sometimes gets out of hand. She'll give me home cooking, I'll give her homemade wine, and it gets out of control, at one point I had to get a translator to explain to her that she didn't need to keep feeding me. 🤣

I'm a big supporter of Ukraine and follow podcasts called "Ukraine the Latest" and "Ukrainecast" every night before going to sleep. I'm old but young at heart with a few interests. I've added you, add me back if you feel we'd get on. Your photo is lovely :)

Hi! I'm always looking for new blogs to follow from people outside the U.S. (I'm an American, currently living in Romania)...and looking at your profile, I think we might have some similar interests. Wanna add each other?

I'd love to add you, but first, let me introduce myself!

I'm American and have been journaling on LiveJournal since 2001 (and a mirror journal on Dreamwidth since 2009). I think we have some common interests, especially in photography. I often post photos from my Flickr account (I'm sweetmeow there, too). I'm nowhere near professional, though.

I'm disgusted with what has happened to Ukraine at the hands of Russia. I've seen so many photos of your lovely country and read about the strength, resolve, and creativity of your citizens. And look what Russia has done?! Right now, I'm also disgusted with how our country is responding. I know your journal isn't about politics, but this is about the survival of democracy!!!

Another thing you need to know is that I'm an older person -- age 75, to be exact. So my daily life concerns won't be exactly like yours. But I enjoy reading those who in different stages of life from me, and I enjoy many younger DW friends.

In short: my husband and I are retired and are "snowbirds" and live South Carolina in the winter and Long Island, New York, in the summer. I'm a photographer and musician (flutist), and I sing in the church choir (but I am not overly religious and don't try to change minds). My entries are friends only, but you can also take a look at my profile page.

Let's be friends!

I only occasionally post about politics, so rest assured, I will only rarely go there in my journal, if at all. And - it's not about your nationality, but my desire to get to know you, experience your photography, and other interests. I already marvel at your command of English! But I wanted to let you know about my stance before we started.

I pray you're right about the autumn....

And I have a married son who is older than you -- age 46 -- and one 9-year-old granddaughter. Check out my profile page for any more info about me.

"Messages in a Bottle" reminds me of this old song, Jim Croce, "Time in a Bottle," found on youtube:

Wow, your pictures are gorgeous! Reminds me of how much I loved to take pictures, and that I should definitely pick up that habit again soon. :)

I'd like to read your bottle messages, and you're very welcome to subscribe to my journal if you're interested. My interests are listed in my profile, since I still don't have a proper Introduction Post, ahem. I'm usually posting about the things I watched/read, stuff from work (I'm a shoemaker at a theatre), and fannish things I enjoyed or wrote.

Oh, I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint on that level of gossip: I would never share juicy bits about our actors and actresses, especially not by their names. Sometimes I'm ranting about internal processes feat. the Big Heads aka our posh bosses and how they think it's a good way to run our house and/or engage with critics (like here). :)

I've never read that Somerset Maughn novel! It sounds intriguing indeed.

Thank you for your enthusiasm about taking pictures. I do have an old reflex camera, I'll dig it out and just go for it, ha.

My blog is more fannish than yours, but you sound like an interesting person and I would love to subscribe to you if that's alright! A lot of my posts are about books I've read and I'm trying to get more into personal anecdotes.

I am adding you because your last public post was very thought-provoking and because you love music.
