Name: Corrie
Age: 18
I mostly post about: whatever's going on in my life, things I find interesting at that moment, fandom stuff.
My Hobbies are: knitting, playing piano and bass guitar, listening to music, writing fanfiction (and occasionally trying to make fanart).
My fandoms are: my most consistent ones over on tumblr are Red Dwarf and Withnail and I, but I also occasionally hang around horror/sci-fi podcast fandoms. I love all things sci-fi so expect other shows/movies/books of that genre to turn up sometimes. I'm currently making my way through the Eighth Doctor Adventure novels too!
I'm looking to meet people who: I share hobbies or fandoms with, or just generally cool people :D
My posting schedule tends to be: not very often. I'm far more active on tumblr but I'm planning to use this account more in the future.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: people constantly posting bigoted content of any kind. We don't like hate speech on this account! Apart from that, not much I guess? If there are any more boundaries I think of I'll put them on the sticky post at the top of my blog.
Before adding me, you should know: I may post about political stuff, particularly about events in the UK. Also some of my fanfiction might have potentially triggering content, but I'll add warnings at the start of anything I post!

Welcome!
I like science fiction too.
Re: Welcome!
Also I’d love to talk about sci-fi with anyone! I’m constantly listening out for new recommendations if you or anyone else has any :D

Yay! That's good to hear.

I write some, although my fans sponsor more fantasy than science fiction. Among my series are An Army of One: The Autistic Secession in Space, Daughters of the Apocalypse, Feathered Nests, Kung Fu Robots, and Tripping into the Future. The Blueshift Troupers and Schrodinger's Heroes are both open-source SF. I do a Poetry Fishbowl on the first Tuesday of each month, next up will be "Ethical Supervillains" on May 6. I usually do the

The best, most classic-flavored SF I've found recently is this gem:
"Child of a Wandering Star" by Derin
You’re not supposed to do it, of course, but it’s not unheard of for parents to try to ensure good destinies for their daughters by timing their conception carefully. Most hatchings take place under somewhat clear skies, so the gods that bear witness to the young larvae and claim them for their paths are stars. And stars are notoriously regular in their habits, for the most part; if you want a sturdy and caring daughter born under Zimma, or a strong leader under Yorlu, then it’s all a matter of timing.
But there’s always a gamble.

You sound interesting and I would like to get to know you :) I see on your sticky post that you enjoy metal & goth music, which are your favourite bands? I used to listen to both of these genres a lot and while I have branched out more, I still have a lot of fondness for them. Also, love podcasts - do you have any recs in the horror genre?
As for politics, I don't mind that kind of content at all and I consider myself very progressive so you certainly won't find any bigotry on my journal - at least not on purpose (we all live and learn and I might say something wrong once in a while but am always open to being called out).
I do need to say that I am quite a bit older than you (turning 37 next Saturday) so I would completely understand if that's a dealbreaker for you :)

Don't worry, age isn't a dealbreaker, I have a couple of mutuals on Tumblr who are in their 30s-40s——so it'd be unfair to have that boundary on this site I think :D
As for bands, I enjoy the goth band Clan of Xymox, and I'm currently listening to a band called Cemetery Sex (they've only got a few songs out right now but they're really good!) As for metal, I'm a massive fan of Judas Priest——their album Sin After Sin is one of my favourites of all time. If you know any similar bands I'd love to hear about them!
I've listened to a few horror podcasts, so yes I'd love to share recs with you! My favourite is probably the Magnus Archives——it's an episodic "monster of the week"-type format that gradually builds up into an overarching story. That's finished, but there's currently a sequel podcast called the Magnus Protocol that's ongoing and is in its second season (I think? I haven't caught up in a couple of months.) The episode releases are weekly with occasional breaks.
I can also recommend the Silt Verses. I didn't really get much into it because I was distracted by other things at the time but the episodes I did listen to were great! That's more of an overarching story rather than episodic I think. The podcast finished a few months ago, so all the story is available.
I'd also recommend Malevolent——or the first three seasons at least. I didn't really like how it progressed beyond that point and I stopped listening, but the first three seasons are definitely worth it. It's going into its sixth (and last) season at the moment, and the episode releases are roughly monthly. The story is generally from the perspective of the two main characters, and each series is set in a different location, and is vaguely Lovecraftian in nature.
Currently, I'm listening to Not Quite Dead! I'm not many episodes in at the moment (about four or five) but I'm enjoying it at the moment. I don't have a lot of knowledge of the plot yet, but if you like vampires the podcast is probably for you!
I'd also like to suggest the Ichorous Rot——that's only got two episodes out at the moment but I know one of the people involved in it, and I bet there'll probably be another episode sometime soon.
I Am In Eskew and Archive 81 are also two podcasts I've heard good things about, but I've not started listening to them yet. I Am In Eskew is something to do with a city (?), and I think Archive 81 is similar to the Magnus Archives.
Hope these recs are okay! :D

I haven't heard of Cemetery Sex but I'll give them a listen. Judas Priest is a good one, although I don't know many of their songs. Have you listened to Powerwolf? They're epic/power metal if that's something that appeals to you as well.
Oh and thanks so much for all the recs! I loved "The Magnus Archives", for some reason "Protocols" wasn't so much my cup of tea though. Not sure why. I'm gonna check out the other ones you named, as well :)

And if you don't mind I've got a neat (at least I think so) advice: in your profile you can list your interests, and then, when you click on them DW shows you other users that share your interests. I found a few mates myself like that! I saw you have joined
I don't have a proper About Me Entry, but a decent profile-- you're welcome to check that out! Adding you right now & granting access. :)

Also yeah, Withnail and I! It's got a small fandom on tumblr at the moment. I think it used to be bigger around 2012-2015-ish, but there's still roughly a dozen people actively posting about it from time to time.
I've been meaning to watch Warlock actually (and Richard E Grant's other films), but I've mostly been looking at Paul McGann's——"I"/Marwood's—— older stuff recently (which got me more into Dr Who, so I got a really sidetracked and started reading a bunch of novels instead).
Also, I looked at your profile, and I'll be adding and granting access back! :D

Also yeah I've been meaning to watch some Classic Who too! I'm considering watching it in order, but I've become interested in the 7th Doctor's run through tumblr mutuals posting about it so I might have to watch his series' first. I have watched part of the TV movie but it stopped working halfway through and I forgot to get back to it, so I need to rewatch that too.
Just a sidenote though: your intro post mentions you back then only wanting 20s and upwards to follow you. Does that still apply? I'm technically not in my 20s yet so if that's a problem, no hard feelings——I'd always be fine following you at a later date if you're more comfortable with that :D

(I really wanna watch some 7 too, I've only seen one or two serials but he's so much fun. Also, you should watch The Scream of the Shalka, lmao. It's a super low budget - but official! - animated miniseries from like 2003, where the Doctor is voiced by Richard E. Grant.)

Also I’ve heard of Scream of the Shalka a couple of times——I’ll have to watch that too!
