I'm new to DW and I have no idea how to find friends and generally nice people on this site. So that's why I'm going to try it in this community ;)

I mostly post about: my fanfictions, other general hobby-related stuff (like e.g. reviews of TV shows and books, things about my creative projects), and maybe also some real life things. At least that's what I plan to do...as of now my blog is pretty empty as I only started it. ^^

My hobbies are: reading, writing fanfiction, British comedy, politics, anime/manga/games, The Beatles, crochet, learning the bass/guitar/violin, learning about new things in general, collecting things

My fandoms are: at the moment I'm mostly into Have I Got News For You and The Beatles, but I'm also more loosely interested in a variety of things like Star Trek, Genshin Impact, Mo Dao Zu Shi/The Untamed, Tian Guan Ci Fu, The X-Files, Godzilla...the list is ever-growing and ever-changing.

I'm looking to meet people who: I'd like to find someone who shares some of my interests and generally nice people. I always struggled to find friends and no idea if anyone ever considered themselves my friend, but I'd like to change that if possible.

My posting schedule tends to be: As of yet I haven't any scheduled posts planned out, but I want to try to be quite active if possible.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: well, I wouldn't want to befriend bigots, racists, TERFs and the like, so I probably won't add them without a good reason

Before adding me, you should know:I'm not a native English speaker, so I apologise for any weird mistakes I will inevitably make. I hope it's at least possible to understand what I'm saying... ;)

Hello there! Always glad to meet another fanfic writer. I'll add you if that's okay. As to your written English it's fine so far (and I'm an editor so I should know, right? ha ha). I'm curious, what is your home language? I studied a lot of languages in high school and college and am always interested in talking about them. :-)

I agree, there are nicer languages than German for sure...

I know a little German from learning some for a trip there about 15 years ago. I know French from studying it in high school and college, took a couple of years of Russian in college, also had a year of Latin. I grew up in New York City so I can read the Spanish-language subway signage and I can say basic greetings to my current neighbors, who are from Colombia. I know a tiny bit of a few other languages too.

That's impressive! I wish I knew more languages too, but unfortunately I went to a pretty bad school which didn't offer any other non-native languages apart from English. I learned a bit of French and Welsh (+tiny bits of Latin) through Duolingo and language course books, but my skills aren't on a level where I could actually use them for anything, haha.

I've been refreshing my French on Duolingo lately, just on the general principle that it annoys me to have lost my fluency. Also my wife (you'll see me reger to her as J) has been learning Spanish on Duo and I wanted to feel I could keep up with her capabilities, if you see my point.

I've thought periodically about tackling Irish Gaelic. It would be nice to read the mythology in the original language.

You sound interesting and like someone I could get along with. I am a big reader and always enjoy reading people's book reviews, love both Godzilla and The Beatles & I am into politics (even though I don't mention them often on here) and learning new things as well. As for political views, I'm very progressive/leftist so you definitely won't read any bigoted views in my journal, at least not on purpose - I have said ignorant things before without meaning to, of course, but I am trying my best not to have that happen!

I hear you about struggling to make friends, that's been the case for all my life as well. Oh and lastly, 33 is not a bad age! I turn 37 this year xD

Hi there! Thank you, and it's always good to find some shared interests. Same here about the politics, so that's great too :) Oh, and I totally understand...I mean, it's even quite easy to be ignorant sometimes, but the important thing is that someone is doing their best and trying to improve.

And yeah, I never quite understood why people have such an easy time making friends. It's so hard... In any case, I added you and you can add me back if you want to!

Well, I just kind of feel as if my youth passed me by or as if I was never actually young, so maybe that's why I'm kind of annoyed about my age, haha.

get_knitted community. That comm features daily check-ins where you can post about what you're working on, and everyone is friendly and cheerful.

I also keep a list of other interesting Dreamwidth communities that I've heard about, so you might want to check that list out and see if there's any that catch your interest.
