Hello! This is my second post here, with a freshly-reactivated account. Life went a bit sideways when I tried getting back into journaling last year, but I'd like to try again. I can't help but want to connect with people the way I used to on livejournal, ages and ages ago.
Most of the answers are the same as my initial post, with a wee bit of tweaking. If you were around for that one and want to give me another chance, I'd be glad to reconnect. :D
Name:
Emile
Age:
Mid-30s
I mostly post about:
My hobbies and interests, daily life, and creative projects. I might also share playlists from time to time. (Nostalgia has me longing for the days of mix CDs with custom album covers...) With the exception of my short-lived dreamwidth stint last year, I haven't journaled like this in more than 15 years. I expect I'm still a bit clumsy with my words.
My hobbies are:
Art & crafts, reading (I'm open to most genres), creative writing, playing video games, learning and studying (locate niche topic, hyperfixate, repeat), divination, dancing, collecting fashion dolls, listening to music, watching films, spending time in nature, spending time with my cat & snake, making up silly songs, dreaming and designing (mainly whimsical but conventionally useless things). I'm naturally curious and like to do a little bit of everything.
My fandoms are:
I'm a fan of various franchises, but I don't actively engage with other fans or seek fanfiction/fanart. Past experience tells me fandom goes hard, while I prefer to go softly. Franchises I might write about casually include Kamen Rider, Lodge 49, Studio Ghibli, and various cartoons & video games from childhood.
I'm looking to meet people who:
I can connect with on some level. Honestly, all I ask of others is empathy. Even if we share more differences than similarities, as long as you have empathy, I'm sure we can find a common thread between us and enjoy learning from each other's perspective.
My posting schedule tends to be:
*nervous laughter* ... I'd like to write regularly, but I have spent so long stifling my own voice, I can't be sure what 'regular' looks like right now. I'd like to be less comfortable as a ghost. I'll be around each week, even if it's just leaving comments on my read page.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are:
Bigotry, right wing extremism, animal cruelty, rampant disregard for the environment & more-than-human world. I try to be fair-minded, but I cannot be your friend if I am constantly angry about your journal content. Also, I generally won't subscribe to fandom-only journals simply because I prefer to connect with people beyond the scope of a franchise.
Before adding me, you should know:
I experience chronic illness and mental health issues. While they will likely not be topics of focus, I may mention them in passing, and my anxiety-fueled awkwardness can be glaring. If you're susceptible to secondhand embarrassment, feel free to keep scrolling. :') Also, if you have a snake phobia, be aware I will write about/share photos of my lil guy.

I also miss the old days of mix C-D's. And I love doing art and crafts. One of my favorite hobbies is reading - I usually post about what I am reading or have read. :-)

I agree with the sentiment of longing for mix CDs. This is why I create YT Music playlists for the people I would like to give them to, but of course, this is not the same. I remember how much joy making mixtapes/mix CDs for others gave me, and then the receiving of the latter items, too. Nothing beats connecting to others via music.
I would like to give this a try, really. You do sound very nice and like we could get along well. My name is Rina, I turned 40 this year, and I live in Southern Germany as of now. My hobbies / interests include making & listening to music, dancing, anything creative (drawing, creative writing, designing web sites, designing fashion (God, this sounds so fancy.), crafting, woodworking, ... Though I think everything we do in this world, unless we are merely copying others... is creative in its essence), divination (I read tarot (and oracle cards, Lenormand cards, etc.) and analyse horoscopes professionally), the paranormal / spirituality, spending time with our pets (six cats + a dog), learning foreign languages, travelling, learning new things in general, ... I am not scared of snakes; I actually find them fascinating. :)
I have multiple mental health "issues" as well (BPD, AvPD, depression, complex PTSD, an eating disorder, and I had two psychotic breaks in my lifetime, too, though under a lot of stress.). I could say a lot more. But that's the essence, I think.
Would you like to be friends?

Thank you for commenting; everything you wrote resonates with me, especially your comment about everything being a creative act. I feel the same way! (And the main reason I collect fashion dolls is because I like designing and making clothes, so you're in good company with me. *^^*)
I would absolutely like to be friends. I've added you and granted access, and I see from your profile we share even more interests and favorites. I'm excited to get to know you! ♡

I would like to be friends, you seem like a cool person and we share a lot of common values. I definitely can relate about mental health issues so no secondhand embarrassment or judgement on that ♥ what you wrote about empathy also extremely resonates with me.
I love books, music and learning all kinds of things too and find both cats and snakes to be adorable - I do have a cat myself.
Also, yay for sharing playlists! I enjoy finding new music esp. through personal recommendations.
Want to give it a try? My name is Tina, btw :)

I'm 36 and from the UK. I enjoy arts and crafts, reading, video games, and spending time in nature. I also love a bit of nostalgia so I'd like to read about some older games and cartoons if you ever write about those.
I have an 'about me' post but it's quite brief, feel free to ask anything though!

My apologies for the late response, by the way - I've been offline the past week. :S
