GenX and looking for more peeps to add to my circle
Age: 58! And as I said, I feel not so old, but it’s true I get in cheaper at the community pool as a “senior,” haha.
I mostly post about: My life. Sometimes just wacky stuff I see/hear/read. Some photos. Random and unplanned, usually, though I try to post my 1 Second Everyday video diary at the end of each month. My journal is locked, so comment if you’d like to be added.
My hobbies are: I’m awesome at starting projects I never finish. Right now I’m into cactuses, my loudmouth cat Nandor the Relentless, biking (not in the winter, not super hardcore), travel, food (it’s complicated), and I cannot stop watching TikToks about big change haircuts, fails, meows that get sampled into songs, food too complicated for me to make, aspirational plant spaces. And puzzles: I’m on a trivia team that plays every two weeks, my favorite puzzle is worldledaily.com, and it takes me months to finish a Sunday NYT crossword because I only start working on it about 5 minutes before I fall asleep. Don’t ask me to tackle sudoku, my brain is bad at mathy things.
My fandoms are: I’ve never been a superfan. I do have favorite podcasts, does that count?
I'm looking to meet people who: Post often about their lives (not just fandom and games, sorry, I’m not into these), enjoy conversation, are not racist/sexist/anti-queer/anti-science. Over 18 only, and over 40 would be welcome, since it's harder to meet peers at this age.
My posting schedule tends to be: weekly/monthly but sometimes more, sometimes less. In 2024 I'm trying to do at least weekly.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: Terrible spelling, right-wing views, religious talk, "spiritual" things, Tesla enthusiasts
Before adding me, you should know: I used to have a livejournal, but I’m in favor of not giving money, clicks, etc. to them. I live where it's cold, but not like Svalbard cold. I don’t get enough vegetables for Complicated Reasons. I still wear a mask to the grocery store. I can’t sing. I like ironing. Thrifting is a lifelong passion. Unlike Mr. Jeremy Fisher, I do not live in a little damp house amongst the buttercups. I’m not ashamed of the bologna sandwiches of my youth, but I won’t be eating any henceforth. I work out a lot and if I post about that, it's not a judgment of people who don't work out. "A lot" is two words.

Your username was the first thing that caught my eye because I love coffee, but you sound like someone I'd like to get to know altogether.
Bit about me: My name is Tina, I'm 35 (hopefully not too young for you after all?) and live in Germany with my cat. I also love travel, do the Wordle puzzle every day, listen to a lot of podcasts and I do think of myself as a fairly open-minded and progressive person, although I'm not perfect by any means - but who is?
Would you like to give it a try?

I learned a tiny bit of German many years ago and I hope to try it out someday. Alas, learning bits of other languages just polluted everything and I invariably spit out the wrong word when I attempt to speak anything but English. ;)

If you would like to have a conversation in German some time, just to practice, hit me up :)
learning bits of other languages just polluted everything
I can relate, I've learned a couple languages on Duolingo and sometimes I just confuse them xD

My journal is very new and kind of sparse at the moment (I have left Livejournal behind and now making Dreamwidth my new home).
I hope we can be DW friends? I will add you.

We seem to share some likes and almost all the dislikes. I'm English living in a large city in northwest England. Two cats, two sons, two grandchildren.
Care to give it a try?

I'm over 40 and quite open minded but steer clear of religious and political conversations. Favorite podcast: Beautiful Anonymous.
After losing my nearly 20 year old cat roughly 7 years, I will be a kitty-haver around late February and there will be a lot of relearning involved I'm sure.
If you'd like to add, I'm up for it!

I got lucky with this kitty...adopted him at age 7-ish and he almost immediately developed health problems. I doubt he will make it to 20. But he's a sweet boy.

I'm close to 40 but still got a couple years to go :).

I am also dealing with fallout from some big life changes. I didn't say that in my intro here, but the stuff that's happened in my life since 2019 is a lot to manage. I'm wise enough to recognize now when I should take a step back. I may visit your journal from time to time, though. I wish you peace and some resolution to what's obviously a very troubling situation.

I'm sorry to hear you have a possible similar situation but love that you're able to handle it and catch yourself when you need to.
Thank you again for the kind words. I hope the day treated you well.

I do post about fandom from time to time (and games more rarely), but my journal is a long way from being devoted to either of those. The rabbit icon comes from a time when I was moderately involved in the furry fandom, but that's almost entirely a thing of the past now, bar still knowing a few of the friends I made along the way.
I shall not be the slightest bit offended if you decide mine isn't a journal you're interested in reading, or indeed if you decide simply to ignore this comment. :)
Tesla enthusiasts
Not that I am one, but I'm curious about this. You don't have to answer, of course, but I'll ask anyway: is this because of Elon Musk, or is it something to do with Tesla in and of itself?
no subject
I've yet to meet a Tesla driver who wasn't preaching the Gospel of Elon. Where I live they also tend to be young, arrogant as hell, and living beyond their means. Life is too short for me to wait for them to grow up, if indeed they ever do.
Fun fact: my ex-husband used to think a Tesla would be amazing. That was before Elon got really...obvious about who he truly is. And also before all the splashy news stories about Teslas killing and injuring people. My ex no longer wishes for a Tesla.

My neighbour has a Tesla, and she's a very sweet person -- but quite possibly things are different over here. She's also a sample size of one in terms of people I actually know who own them, so it could be that I'm just very lucky! I really, really don't want to have anything to do with Musk, though. He does have one good feature, in that he's a big reason I've almost completely stopped using Twitter.ยน I should have done that long ago.
ยน There are a few companies who make it nearly impossible to contact them any other way, otherwise I'd close the account entirely.

I am getting back into the flow of posting and interacting on here, so things may be sporadic for a little while. But when I do post my daily life stuff. Pets, life, crafts, gardening stuff, etc.
I tend to avoid writing about politics, religion, or most things news related (unless it's cutsie happy news). I did just put up a sticky note on my journal with some About Me type things, so feel free to check that out and see if you want to add me.
I love that you added that "A lot" is two words. ๐
Thanks to The Oatmeal comic I will forever think of a fuzzy creature when I see 'Alot' used anywhere instead of 'a lot'.๐

I have a new account and plan on posting at least weekly. I've added you, feel free to add me if you like. :)

I'm older than you are and at time feel like rip van winkle.
I do not look my age nor feel it.
I tend to not post my age because I feel age is just a number.
You are as young as you feel.
And I also have friends who are younger than me too.
You should see me when I first get up in the morning. LOL
Would love to be friends with you. May I add you? You can add me back. ๐
