Looking for New Connections
Name:
tommx but you can call me Tom.
Age: 55, but I'm told I look reasonably good for my age.
I mostly post about: Mostly whatever is on my mind at the moment. I have no real pattern or organizing principle to what I write, at least not so far. Lately, it's mostly been about my health, as I had something of an intense couple of years in that realm, but now that I'm doing a little better, I'm starting to talk more about what I'm doing in the moment, what I'm reading, watching, working on, etc.
My hobbies are: Cooking, hiking, camping, reading, acting, coding, table top rpgs, music (classical, rock, jazz, punk...pretty much everything but rap), theater (watching and performing), going to museums, and journaling (paper as well as online)
My fandoms are: I tend to dislike the term "fandom" but here we go: Doctor Who, Star Trek (mostly TOS and Strange New Worlds, but I like most of the incarnations), J.R.R. Tolkien, Michael Moorcock, George RR Martin, The Expanse (books and TV show), film noir, science fiction in general.
I'm looking to meet people who: I generally like people who are independent, quirky, weird, silly, unusual, etc. Qualities I admire are open mindedness, ethics, acceptance of others, loyalty to the people you care about, compassion, etc. LGBTQ+ folks are particularly welcome.
My posting schedule tends to be: I've been sporadic, but am trying to be more regular. When I was on Livejournal, I'd often post daily. I hope to do more of that in the near future. A lot of the more recent spaces between my posts have been because of health issues which are documented within.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: Bigotry of any sort is absolutely unacceptable. This includes homophobia (aka gay hatred), intolerance of trans folk, etc. MAGA and Qanon cultists need not apply.
Before adding me, you should know: I'm an atheist. That simply means I do not believe in God, Heaven, Hell, etc. The word "belief" really has no meaning for me to be honest. I accept that which can be proven or predicted scientifically. Anything beyond that is fantasy as far as I'm concerned. It makes for entertaining stories, but that's about it for me. Having said that, I have no problem connecting with people of faith so long as they do not try to force it on me. Likewise, I will never force my lack of it on anyone else. My journal is pretty much uncensored, and I don't generally hold things back. Generally speaking, it's best if those who connect with me are at least over 21.
My trust is generally something that is earned. Once lost, it tends to stay that way.
Flame wars are absolutely of no interest to me.
