Seeking Some New Friends

General
Name/Nickname: Georgiana or Georgie. Neither is my legal name, but they are what I use here.

Age or Age Group: Thirty-eight.

You
Do you have any hobbies?: Yes. Reading nineteenth century British literature, writing, trying new teas, coffees, and nasal snuffs, cooking, baking, and crafts.

Do you have any interests that wouldn't fall under a hobby?: Yes, dandyism, Received Pronunciation, the Regency, and anything having to do with high culture. I am also a grammar prescriptivist and love antique menswear, the theatre, fine cuisine, and chamber music.

Any dislikes?: Dishonesty, language being changed to suit political correctness, modern/trendy words and phrases, people who are easily offended and/or who politicise everything, informality entering every aspect of life, and those who constantly use obscenities.

Are you into fandom?: I might enjoy a few creative stories here and there, but mostly to see how others portray famous characters.

What does your day to day look like?: I'm usually studying Latin, posting on Facebook or here, or researching things which interest me.

How would you describe yourself?: I'm honest, hate drama and political correctness, and I am a good listener and friend. I also have a dry sense of humour with a tiny bit of wit. I wish I had more of the latter, but it's either not in my cards or not showing itself fully at this time. However, I love bon mots and witicisms. My type of humour is not for everyone and may offend some.

Entertainment
What do you like to watch?: I'm not really one for television or films. I do like some things, but I would have to think about them. Mostly, I enjoy documentaries.

What movies do you enjoy?: See above. I enjoy some older films and historical ones, provided they are accurate enough not to annoy me.

Do you play games? If so, what do you like?: Yes. Hazard, Macao, Twenty-one, Poker, Bunko, and several audio games on the computer, including Castaways, Dragon Village, Your Adventure, War Sim, and Crazy Party. For more about those, see audiogames.net.

If you like to read, what do you read?: Silver fork novels (Edward Bulwer-Lytton, Theodore Hook, etc.), poetry, memoirs, biographies, general nineteenth-century British literature, J.R.R. Tolkien, and standard European works, in order to improve my knowledge. That is, the sort of thing that would be in a gentleman's library.

What kind of music do you listen to?: I am drawn to the classical period, and chamber music in particular, though I also enjoy some Regency dance music. As for the popular variety, I prefer 1950s through 1970s, though I occasionally enjoy acoustic recordings from the 1880s through the 1920s.

Journal & Friending
What do you post about?: My daily life, dandyism, snuff, tea, various things relating to Eton College, Beau Brummell, antique menswear, books, surveys, old BBC radio shows, Received Pronunciation, grammar, high culture, and the upper and upper middle classes in general. Very rarely, I might write about blindness, but not in a dramatic way.

How often do you update?: at least once a day or once every other day, though I sometimes post more or slightly less than that.

What do you look for in a DW friend?: I look for those who write well and who share at least some of my interests. I am hoping to find friends who enjoy interacting with me, from whom I could learn, and/or who make me laugh.

Do you have any deal-breakers?: I won't add minors, those who write badly, who constantly write about mental health issues, going to therapy, abusive relationships, drama, politics, drugs, religion (a little is okay), or who post only pictures (I am totally blind) or fandom (again, a little is okay).

Is there anything others should know before friending?: I am, as I said, extremely honest. I am also quite opinionated and an elitist, meaning that I believe in the higherarchy of classes, but also in social mobility within reason. Do not add me if you are easily offended, and do not ask me something, unless you want a truthful answer. Otherwise, feel free to read my profile and/or posts and add me if you wish. I will most likely reciprocate. I also comment often, providing I have something to say.
