Hello!
With the influx of people from livejournal, I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring as well to get some new journals to read!
I'm Jay (he/him) and I was on LJ from 2002-2019(?), and on here since c. 2007. For a time in the 00s, livejournal was my primary source of entertainment (and probably social outlet) and I made many longterm friendships through it. Obviously, those days are pretty gone, but I still really enjoy reading my friends' page and do so daily. I am currently in a quiet period and haven't been updating much but I want to get back into it. I comment when I have something real to say.
Anyway boring stuff aside, I am a queer/bi trans man in my early 40s who is more or less post transition and just living life. Trans and queer issues do come up at times, so at the least you'd have to be cool with that. I enjoy reading, art, the Simpsons, indie rock and folk music, 80s pop and new wave, synth stuff, Dad rock, etc. My current go to music/bands are the Mountain Goats, Depeche Mode, and Team Dresch. Music is the media I consume most, if that matters to you, though I don't post about it much it occurs to me. I do have LIVE MUSIC to finally get to go to this spring/summer, so that could change. The current famous-ish people e-newsletters I get are Erin McKeown, Neko Case, Samantha Irby, and Tegan and Sara. I listen to many podcasts too, won't bother to list them. I work an incredibly tedious seasonal job scoring standardized English tests--at least I'm using my degree. I work a fun seasonal job selling beer at 2 stadiums. My personal politics are pretty anti-Capitalist at this point, at least late American style. I don't have any magic answers to solve the World's ills, or even my own. Democratic Socialism is probably where I land on the ol' spectrum. Mostly I just want billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes. Is that too much to ask for?!
I have lived 180 miles from the WI/IL US border my entire life; currently I'm on the Wisc side, in Madison. I love cats. This is getting long so basically, if I sound interesting, feel free to add me.

I LOVE CATS TOO SO WE ARE AUTOMATIC FRIENDS
Also, I went to a Philadelphia-area music school and suffered through an unfortunate number of "new music" creations about ten years ago.
I am Claire-chan both on Dreamwidth and on LiveJournal. I am active on both platforms; each might have slightly different icons. OH I also have a deviantART account, but I'm not as active there, and a slightly different username - randomclaire-chan. Many of my high school buddies are there for whatever reason. I suppose they decided not to put up with other places. I suppose the only reason I have another hit-count on my most recent work (I just published on Archive on Our Own an Anna Karenina writing - it's in Russian) is because I told somebody about it. It looks like earlier in my DW I was planning to kill off Anna's lover, but I never ended up getting myself cold-hearted enough to finally do it.
