AGE: Almost 40
INTERESTS & HOBBIES: Judaism (I'm fairly serious about it), tabletop RPGs (My favorites are Exalted, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Delta Green, and the various White Wolf games), parenting (I have a 10-month old), Japan (I used to live there), video games (mostly RPGs but I did play through the entire Legend of Zelda series in Japanese), the critically-acclaimed MMO Final Fantasy XIV with a free trial etc etc (though I don't post that much about it). I like hiking but I live in Chicago so I don't often get the chance to do it.

I used to post a lot about theatre and my social life, but thanks to the Plague Years and now having a baby, that's been toned down a lot from what it was. I also used to post a lot about food, and I hope to do so again when the farmer's market opens up.

LOOKING FOR: People who post about their lives. Shared interests are a plus, but really just a way to connect with other people. If you primarily use your DW to post about fandoms I probably won't have much to say (unless your fandoms are Final Fantasy, White Wolf, or Exalted lore)

HOW OFTEN DO YOU POST?: Used to be slightly more often but now it's once a week or so.

ANYTHING ELSE?: I post a full review of every video game I beat, which is a lot fewer per year now than it used to be. I wrote this post about adapting goth aesthetics to Judaism. Every summer during the farmer's market season we go to the market, get some ingredients, and then make dinner with what we get. I don't post or read on Shabbat, which sometimes means I'm a little behind. I used to play a lot of World of Warcraft and still vaguely follow the game but don't ever plan on playing it again. I once cosplayed Sauron (well, technically Mairon...)

We seem to have some similar interests, particularly White Wolf in my case Vampire: The Masquerade which I used to play (LARP) in my Goth days in Edinburgh :)

I really mostly post about my life, day to day stuff, ancestry and genealogy (my passion), music, my family, photos sometimes. I love farmers markets, eating out or takeaway, travel. Getting used to living back in a big city (Manchester) instead of a small market town. We have a couple of friends in common.

Yes, they did. Edinburgh is/was big on White Wolf RPG and Camarilla. It's a big university city so I guess the youngsters play a lot. We used to meet in a pub weekly. I was in the clan Tremere and I loved dressing up. I had an entire character :) Were you interested, do you know Edinburgh?

My great-great-grandfather was from Manchester! Before he came to America to seek his fortune. It worked, too--he went from "itinerant laborer" to farm worker, fell in love with and married the farmer's daughter, and inherited the farm when the farmer died. He also passed his red hair down to me.

I LARPed once, but it turned out that being lazy and not wanting to do Gangrel costuming and so picking "animalistic voice" as a bestial feature meant I could talk for about 15 minutes out of the four hours of LARP time. Emoji embarrassed rub head

That's interesting about your great great grandfather, I wonder which part he lived in? The cotton mills were everywhere here when he probably lived here and there were terrible slums so he eventually did well for himself :)

I always found the Gangrel a bit complicated. I went the easy route and was of the clan Tremere :)

Hi! Also a TT/video/board gamer parent (married to another gamer) with a young child (working on turning him into a gamer, he had already attended some LARPs IC before the plague times). I did WW a long time ago (like 90s, early 00s) including being a mod/ST for New Bremen, their official chat based game back in the early 00s XD And being in the Cam, of course XD I never got into the newer stuff, but I still have a soft spot for old WoD while acknowledging it’s many, many flaws.

New Bremen, the successor to Necropolis? I messed around with it a bit (created a revenant so I didn't have to deal with sunrise) but never seriously.

I don’t remember Necropolis, but then I’d just stumbled into New Bremen one day and then it took over my life for a few years.

I just used the daytime cycle as a time to go do things away from my computer or (probably more often) PM with people XD

Funnily enough, I met two fellows (they were university roommates) who lived across the pond from me on New Bremen and we became online friends. 15 years later when I moved to the UK to marry my now husband, I emailed them and they came to our wedding ^_^

One of them became a regular gaming fixture at our place while we were still in London, but even though we’ve moved to the countryside, he and his former roommate (actually lives fairly close to us now) just came to stay with us a couple of weekends ago, too!

Someone actually recreated the old Necropolis chats and while there's no actual RP happening there, you can go and see a bunch of people leaving nostalgic messages in the various rooms.

(and people rehashing 20-year-old drama too, some places).

And that's a lovely story! I didn't get that close to anyone through Necropolis, though I did meet quite a few people through World of Warcraft that I'm still friends with, over a decade since I last played. Who says the internet makes you antisocial? Emoji ~ Cat smile

I love Exalted and played a lot of White Wolf back in the day, and I've got a kid as well. Also I love that post about goth aesthetics and WHY they fit, I adore that kind of thinking through things. Mind if I add you?

I dabble in some games, too, though having 2 kids and some other life things hinder the hubs and I on the gaming front. We just got a PS4 and I'm so STOKED! I want to finish Kingdom Hearts and start The Witcher. Husband played a remake of one of the FF's, but I don't remember which one.

I usually stick to (as of this moment) The Switch console. The kids are fans of Mario and Zelda. I've yet to start Luigi's mansion yet, though they have! We've been playing a lot of Mario Party, too. My kids are 7 and 3.

I usually play the older games on STEAM. I have the Kings Quest Games and Wolf3d. It's kind of hard to play the games I want now though.

So I'm 40, married, SAHM to 2 kiddos. I'm a bit of a nerd. :) I'd love to add you, if that's okay!

King's Quest!! I replayed King's Quest VI a few years ago and it still holds up (even though I screwed up the path to the best ending). Not sure about earlier entries as I only started with V.

There is a Kings Quest Remake!!! Have you played that one yet? Oh my goodness; its the prettiest game ever. I’ve played every KQ game except the last one. It wouldn’t work on my computer and I heard it was lame anyhow. It came in the bundle though. I have all the original DOS games (PLAY THEM) and the new kings quest. My son likes to watch me play. I chromecast it to the TV.

Do you mean the AGD Interactive remakes of the earlier games or the 2015 game? I've seen some Let's Play footage of the 2015 game (I think something about a troll?) and it really did look neat, but honestly I half-think adventure games should have icon interfaces and be in EGA/VGA. I do need to get to the VGA remakes. I know there's one of Quest for Glory II that I've been meaning to get to.

Quest for Glory is so good. Maybe the best video game RPG (in the sense of your actions and choices mattering coupled with character progression) I've played.

The reviews on King's Quest look pretty good! I'll wishlist it and see if it ever pops on sale.

Ive heard its really good! If you’re going to play kings quest, I’d play all the DOS versions first. Since I’m a big fan, I have, and there are little snippets in the 2015 one that nudge at the past games. Also Christopher Lloyd voices older Graham and Zelda Williams( Robin William’s daughter). Voices a character, too.

There are also walkthroughs with all games I mentioned, thank goodness. Of course, those games are known for their puzzles
