• NatGeo History magazine and geeking-out over history in general (the Tudors are a fav and Hamilton was awesome),
• quirky books that only I could find (like Gourmet Rhapsody and Waiting for Gertrude----I'm reading this sometime soon!),
• watching sort-of old anime (is anyone here a Haibane Renmei fan?) and Studio Ghibli films, 
• butterflying (this is like birding but with pretty bugs)
• old black & white films (Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart are favs, oh, and the non-related Audrey Hepburn)
• the Jazz Age (Dorothy Parker is Goddess)

Love your icon, too! Where'd you get it? After seeing it, I went on a hunt to find the one with Rakka trying to brush her hair. No luck. Do you have it, by chance?

I have no other Rakka icons, sorry to say. And while I'm usually very good at recording where I get my icons, this particular Rakka one is really, really old (from LJ), and I didn't record the source. When I later tried to track down the source, I couldn't.

All my posts nowadays are public, so I haven't been granting anyone access. Just subscribe, and you see it all. Or unsubscribe any time you get bored. I don't mind either way, and I'm not tracking subscribers or taking anything personally.

And, inversely, I subscribe or unsubscribe from other blogs just to keep my reading list interesting. It's nothing personal if I unsubscribe. I'm just managing my reading / spare time. 😇

Fantasy books and games sound good to me, not to mention the history bits and Japanese studies!
I post once or twice a week currently, about a variety of stuff that interest me at the moment. Most recently about gaming and book/manga review-ish things in public posts with a variety of daily thoughts in the locked ones.

Always interested in random history posts! I love the Tudor period too. Your book and author list is great. I also studied Japanese, so I still know some resources if you'd like. And what fantasy RPGs do you play? I'm a Baldur's Gate 1 fan myself. :)

Finally! A history fan! Besides the crazy Tudors, what else do you like? I have a liking for Queen Christina of Sweden. Oh! Have you heard of National Geographic History magazine? IT'S SO AWESOME! There's always something Egyptian in each issue, which I find amusing.

I just love the original Neverwinter Nights, along with all those expansion packs and modules. I haven't played Kingmaker yet, but I plan to. Do you ever go to GoodOldGames aka GOG.com? That's where I bought all of Neverwinter 1 stuff on sale for $10 (my game disks died from to much use); it came with a lot of extras, like walkthroughs, soundtrack, artwork, wallpapers, and more. So cool!

I've developed an interest lately in the French aristocracy leading up to the French Revolution - all those Louis! I actually haven't heard of that magazine, but it sounds cool. Is there a digital subscription?

The main resource I can think of for Japanese off the top of my head is jisho.org, which is a great website for definitions, grammar, and conjugation. They also let you draw kanji if you can't copy-paste it (though it has to be done in stroke order...). Let me go through some of my stuff and find you some more.

I've played Kingmaker a little bit, but I found it a little too complicated on the default difficulty, if you know what I mean. I love playing tabletop Pathfinder, but I think that game is really meant for people who optimize their characters.

I do have Neverwinter Nights 1 on Steam! I haven't played much of it yet, but I love the creativity of being able to make your own modules. I mostly use GOG for original (not re-released) old games so they work on modern PCs and come with all the cool bits. They're a godsend for playing the original Fallout games for instance!

I haven't played a lot of RPGs in a good long while, but I've been increasingly interested in the text-based RPGs. Makes me feel ancient just for looking at their sites. There's a game that's been going on since the early '90s. I think it's 1994.

My favorite chapter of NWN1 is three. I want to tell you all the cool things that's in chapter three, but then I would be committing spoiler alert without warning.

I wonder if GOG will get the Sims2 games? I hope so. I loved the Season and Bon Voyage expansion packs. Nothing like your sim being shocked by lightning on their way to work.

As far as I know, I don't think GOG will ever get the rights to the Sims games. EA wants to keep that stuff under lock and key. You can't even purchase Sims 1 or 2 legally from them anymore. There are, uh, other methods.

I've looked into those other methods, and I always feel guilty. One time EA had the whole Sims2 for free download. The Internet died with glee. I missed out and even emailed them if I could still download them. They didn't even have it on their system to offer anymore,otherwise,I could have had it. Gah!
