POSTING STYLE: every few weeks. entries can be long so i usually place them behind a cut. posts tend to be about mental health, relationships, video games, anime, and rarely ( american ) politics. most are locked. sometimes i post privately. i promise that i am not talking about you.

COMMENTING: i try to comment when i'm active. i'm more likely to do so if i just finished posting myself and am reading my access list. i don't expect anyone to comment to my entries constantly either. like a musician i like once said, ' there's power in 'shut the fuck up' '. however, if you're the type who never comments then i don't think we'll be a good fit.

INTERESTS / FANDOM: writing, sleeping, reading starting books and not finishing them, final fantasy vii, xii, x, tactics advance, persona 3 + 4, jojo's bizarre adventure ( manga + anime ), the house in fata morgana, furuba.

LOOKING FOR: people close to my age ( pls no minors ) or older who have similar interests. ideally, i'm looking for interaction + genuine connection. i am one of the many lj vets here. i miss what once was. i'm on the outskirts when it comes to fandom participation so i'm not sure if i'm interested in journals that post about that exclusively.

Thou are such a fucking great band. Every time they put a record out, I'm convinced they have absolutely no right to be *that* good, but they totally are.

sometimes i go through spurts where i don't listen to metal for awhile but they're always one of the first bands i check up on regardless. i don't think there's a single release from them that i don't like. it would be great to see them live some day.

I still kick myself for not seeing them last year when I had the chance. *sigh* They're such a great band, just consistently great, and they seem like really nice folks too.

them actually seeming to be decent makes it even better. there are some artists i listen to that i know i'd never actually want to interact with. esp with metal, it's always relieving when a band isn't full of unpleasant edgelords or winds up being involved in nsbm.

& i know the feeling of kicking yourself for not going to a show. i had a chance to see altar of plagues a handful of years ago but decided not to with the thought of ' i'll catch them next year '. they broke up, i didn't realize until a few months after it happened, and to this day i fruitlessly search for decent merch.

looking through your journal, we have a lot of common interests. i'm not sure if you used lj in the past but i was debiru. your zines look interesting too. i'm really curious about what's in them.

i've been back here for a few years now but i think you're the first person i've come across who actually likes metal or adjacent genres? maybe i just haven't been paying enough attention.

It makes a difference, right? I listen to a lot of black metal mostly now, and I'm good with my little third wave/DSBM bubble for the most part (Leviathan, Xasthur, &c.) and whilst they're not always exactly great people, I find it fucking frustrating whenever I venture out of that bubble and start looking for other bands and have to play the game of "are these guys racist or not?" and follow a whole paperchain.

Ah! The pain of bands falling apart whilst you're busy prioritising is well known to me.

I promise there are a whole bunch of here on DW. I don't know if there's any formal community or not, but I feel that roughly 60% or so I speak to here on a regular basis are into some form of extreme metal and each one of them is lovely! I'm adopting you into this fold too!

I used to be on LJ too, but I left around 2008 or something, I think? Most of my journal was in Cantonese but it was the same username as this one. It wasn't very exciting, you didn't miss anything, lol.

yeah, it really is a whole process. personally, i try to distance myself if i find out a band is racist or otherwise a problem. the genre is vast enough that even though it can be annoying to find pple who are both good + not shitheads that i just try to cut my losses.

I've been talking about Drudkh a lot with people recently because they're playing in London (at some point now it's been rescheduled) and one of my friends is going. I didn't really pay attention to them too much, but I just... I am really conflicted. Like I want to be like black metal is apolitical, but really nothing is apolitical because: Death of the author.

I think your approach is definitely right.

I sort of wish I'd kept my LJ around for a bit longer now - though maybe not too long as looking at the site now it is a mess.

someone i used to know recommended them to me years ago. i might've bought one of their albums on bandcamp. i liked them a lot but didn't pay too much attention either. it wasn't until i saw pple talking ab them on twitter or had another friend mention off hand that they ' were problematic ' that i even knew there was an issue. was pretty bummed and haven't listened to them since.

I don't think any of us have a choice, it's the right thing to do. I think I get away sometimes with a little too much, like, "oh, look at the queer Jewish girl in the Burzum shirt, lololol, irony," but really it's kind of irresponsible.

I pride myself on trying to get things out as fast possible. Plus things have been a little more normal here recently, so there aren't as many queues in front of shops, so it really was no bother! I should be thanking you!!

Hello, Ashe. I thought I'd drop a comment and say hello. I'm mostly liberal/democratic with some conservative views if you can handle that. I don't believe in abortion for a few good reasons. I'm sorry if this harms you in some way. However, I never judge and like a good conversation with debate and discussion about topics taboo or safe we should talk about.

I'm actually still Christian? but former in my old religion after being hurt by some people there. I've decided to practice Wicca, especially Tarot, Crystal and Herbal (Incense and Candles, always a bonus I love) for protection and to help others. I understand now that the Earth needs this stuff and I'm always receiving messages from the Universe. I completely believe in fate in the stars, and the destiny for human kind is to live forever upon the Earth we need to take care of a lot more than we do.

Anyway, if I sound like you're kinda person, Miss Law. Please talk to me. I'm 34, if that's an issue let me know. I just want a friend I can discuss and have conversation with. I also love to leave comments and read about people's lives. I love fandom, but I am not one to post about it constantly. My personal life is in shambles but I'll be okay.
