NAME: Janie.
AGE: 35.
INTERESTS & HOBBIES: writing and reading - especially queer literature, YA, fantasy, and poetry. Nature and the land - I'm a novice gardener trying my hand at growing vegetables and cultivating a wild meadow in the bottom of the garden. I've been rediscovering an old love for musical theatre recently (it never died, but it went quiet for a time). Animals in general, but especially cats and horses. Tea! Crafts of so many types - I knit, sew, embroider, scrapbook, do origami, bind books sometimes, and have recently been experimenting with natural dyeing. Tarot. Celtic mythology. The Romantic movement. The sea.
LOOKING FOR: People who update somewhat regularly (I've been trying to do the same) with similar interests, who are preferably closer to my age! I think I'm trying to recreate the LJ vibe from the early 2000s, when it felt like journalling and reading my flist was being part of a lovely supportive friendship group. The newer blogging / microblogging / social media platforms really don't work for me. I thought joining communities and meeting people on DW would be a softer and more community-driven way to interact and get talking / writing / sharing / connecting again! Communities seem very quiet though so far, so I'm trying here instead.
ANYTHING ELSE?: I live with recurrent depression and endometriosis, and am currently having a potential heart condition investigated, so I sometimes talk about these things. I'm bi, and queer interests / media are important to me too, though I rarely (if ever) journal about politics. My journal is mostly public for the moment.
ALSO KNOWN AS: I used to be known as seagreenish on LJ (and subsequently tumblr when I tried it out, though I no longer use it). I'm luvanderwon on AO3 but I'm not active in any fandoms right now. (I'm not sure if I want to be, either).

We've got a few things in common in gardening, crafts (sewing/embroidery/yarn spinning here!), tarot. I agree with your sentiment of a softer way of joining communities, and would love to get in contact!
My blog is honestly, a bit barren right now, but I'll hope to post more about longer thoughts, hobbies and such here in future.
