Added you! Please note that I'm in the process of updating my profile/mini-bio. But I'm generally into fandom, and kind and smut work for me too... anyway, welcome to DW!

You too! Germany, eh? Whereabouts? I've been to Berlin, Hamburg, and some tiny villages whose names I can't remember. Went there about ten years ago out of curiosity.

Yup, I'm in the US. Honestly, right now I have mixed feelings about that: I am NOT fond of our current president. Blech.

Berlin was very cool. My parents, who both speak fluent German (learned in school) and have emotional attachments to Germany took me, and wow the museums and the buildings and things. This was about twelve years ago, I think. My mother has a couple of friends living in Germany and we visited them.

Yeah, it was Museuminsel for sure. We walked along Unter den Linden and saw Alexanderplatz and the Brandenburger Tor and all kinds of stuff--a remarkable amount of stuff in the four days we had in Berlin.

where else I would travel

[personal profile] rafiwinters 2018-12-06 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. I haven't had traveling on my mind a lot these last few years. Used to have all sorts of ambitions about Russia and Israel and Hungary. Now I'm more like thinking whether I'll have enough money for anything but the bare necessities, forget doing anything fun.

Hey you seem cool! I'll add you. I've only seen a bit of red dead redemption but it seems pretty cool. I'm not sure if we have fandoms in common besides that but I'm always up for listening to people ramble about their own ships, its sweet.

Thanks :D
I love sewing. Fashion or costumes in general I find it relaxing And yeah Plenty of other stuff to talk about.

Thats actually part of the reason I am on dreamwidth. Trying to get more comfortable posting about what I am working on :D When I finish this round of sewing I'll be posting it.

Right now I have a couple Things in the works. For me I have a pair of stays, and am planing after these are don't to make a whole 1700 dress to go with them. I actually have a couple outfits from that era planned.
I'm working on a pair of wings based on the reaper wings from TWEWY
I'm also working on SCA garb for my partner. They are looking to get back into it after not being there since like junior high? I think and they have obviously grown since then lol. So there I am working on a early kirdle, overdress and probably a headdress for them. Around the 1460-1500 time. I am just finishing up kirtle now and it should be done like Tomorrow evening? If I can get them to hang out long enough to hem it that is lol

ahhhh It's fine :D I'm glad when people take an interest in fashion stuff.
It is for daily wearing or I guess as daily as I feel like it. I don't really plan for events ever lol The most I plan for a con is like a cosplay of some sort but I haven't been to a con in a few years now.
A pair of stays is like a early version of the corset. Sometimes the words are used interchangeably when talking about victorian times but the word corset didn't come into use till then so is mainly not used for anything predating around 1800.
The main difference is shape and material. They mainly gave like the 1700s more elongated shape than the Victorians hourglass shape is a kinda simple explanation.
The SCA stands for Society for Creative Anachronism. It's a lot of re enactment medival skill sharing etc.
A kirtle was a garment worn around that time. Later medival period. In some spaces like at home or informally they were worn by themselves but are usually more structured to provide breast support and a small amount of shaping and were kinda like the beginnings of structured shapewear around that time. The one I am making is a earlier one and doesn't provide as much shaping as the later ones which eventually lead to something called a pair of bodies (A pair of bodies is basically a early stay/corset as well I think they were sometimes called stays later so while I am unsure I think they led into them.)
So In short its just a dress with a kinda structured bodice that was worn differently (either by itself or with an overdress) depending on situation. This is all a little simplified but otherwise I would be here all day lol

I think we have things in common! I also like to write and read fanfic, and share experiences and things that I like (and those that I do not like too). If you think we can be a good match, let me know and we can add each other :)

Yes, I do! As I travel a lot for work I've tried to take up as a hobby to photograph the places I visit. Sometimes it depends on whether I have a pending job to finish or not, but I love photography and I'm always thinking in pictures. I have a Nikon that I love, although these days (for the sake of not carrying unnecessary extra weight) I usually take my images with an iPhone.
Read you soon!! :D :D :D
