Let's party like it's 2005
NAME: Call me D for now, my real name is too powerful knowledge to give away to just anyone.
AGE: Old enough to remember the LJ strikethrough (thirtynothing)
Pop culture personality test type things: Gryffindor, Team Valor.
LOOKING FOR:
I miss journal culture, modern social media mostly makes me uncomfortable with all this using real names, not understanding fandom history, posting selfies everywhere thing. I'd like to have cool people on my Friends I mean Reading page.
I love snail mail and sending letters and postcards. Looking forward to sending nice things to strangers via holiday_wishes soon!
INTERESTS & HOBBIES:
Movies! From blockbusters to smaller releases, old and new ones. I try to watch more films by women directors but this year's goal of 52 films is... not going that great to be honest.
Comics! My favourites are Phonogram, The Wicked + The Divine, Chew, Hark! A Vagrant, Nimona, Long Exposure and The Less than Epic Adventures of TJ & Amal. Looking forward to Farmhand and various Iron Circus releases.
TV series! I should catch up on AMC's Preacher (fan of the comic), The Good Place, Silicon Valley, B99, Endeavour and Doctor Who. Can't wait for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Star Trek Discovery to return. Sad there's no more Chewing Gum, it was hilarious.
Books! I'd read Stephen King's shopping list if I could. Liked Harry Potter back in the day, don't care about the movies or whatever happened since the 7 books came out. Have a tall To Be Read-stack to which I add things every time I visit the library, which is often!
Music! Film scores and soundtracks are good, but pop music wise I seem to lag like 7-9 years behind of what's In Right Now. Recently I've been jamming to Yoko Ono remixes from 2007.
I'm interested in soccer, (calling it football tho bc I'm an European) random international teams/players and my local boys. Even I love the beautiful game I will not deny its ugly sides. This does not make me very popular because I'm always ruining people's moods by mentioning that player X doesn't pay his taxes and team Y don't have a women's team. :p
Not really into video games (okay, I enjoyed Firewatch and Dream Daddy) but Pokémon Go is a fun thing to make me go outside. I'm not like, good at it, I just like collecting the creatures and giving them stupid names.
I am a fandom fiend and a shameless rps shipper, but you know, a sensible polite one who respects the 4th wall. I understand if people find rpf creepy, but I wouldn't dream of being shit to actors' wives or linking unsolicited fanfic in a celebrity's IG comments. I just want to read cute stories of hot men smooching in peace, that's all. I can't write for shit though and am shy to make/post fan art anywhere public.
ANYTHING ELSE?:
I don't think friends need to have 100% same fandoms and interests to get along. But I would like to have friends whom I don't have to fight with about actually important things. So, I am pro women's rights, BLM, LGBTQIA and the environment. I don't journal about these things that much, I get to argue them enough in rl and want to keep my DW a more relaxing place. Just so you know.
I write mostly about my day to day life which is attempting to do art, studying, wasting time and hanging out with my nearest and dearest. I talk about movies and pop culture in general or list things that made me happy. I like puns, making pop culture references nobody understands, and curse words. Sometimes I paste askbox memes from tumblr and answer all the questions in one entry. I read and try to comment if I feel I have something to contribute.
