Hey everybody! I've recently come back from a DW semi-hiatus, but now I'm back and I'd find some new people to talk to.

So, about me! I'm twenty years old, female, and currently taking a break from school in order to figure out where the hell my life is taking me. (Not to mention figure out how to fund it.) I grew up in the same rural midwestern town where I currently live, which means my chances of meeting anyone I don't already know is practically nil. I'd give practically anything to get the hell out. I hope someday to be able to travel around the world.

I identify as "queer", though my sexuality is a bit more complicated than that. I live with mental illness, which I do see several professionals to help me manage. I do plan to talk about this a bit, but it will be filtered, so you don't have to see it if you don't want to.

No matter what I do, my inability to sleep leaves me with spare time in abundance, so I spend way too much spare time watching television and playing games on my DS. I'm also in the midst of a book-reading challenge, which I'm quite enjoying, despite being unfortunately stuck with only a couple of genres to choose from right now. My interests include linguistics & language, religion, rights advocacy & general politics. I love science (especially astronomy) but was never terribly good at it. My life revolves around musical theater, science fiction, spicy food and caffeine. My head is almost always in the clouds.

I'm currently attempting to get back into anime (not in a hardcore way) after several years as well. (So hey, recs?)

I'm an INFP.

Try checking Hoshi no Koe and I've heard Please Save My Earth is good. (The latter's art improves, I promise). Naoki Urasawa is great; 20th Century Boys and Pluto have the most sci-fi themes. If you want good magical girl stuff, try Sailor Moon and Utena. I haven't read Utena but it's praised everywhere. Oh, and Princess Tuto is an amazing anime about a duck who turns into a girl and fights using the power of ballet.

xxxHolic is a good fantasy series. The main protagonist is a boy but it hold the awesome Yuuko (the person in my icon) and the art is very smooth as it's done by CLAMP. CLAMP had also done other fantasy, such as Cardcaptor Sakura, Clover, Magical Knights of Rayearth and RG Veda. That's all I can think of for now, but if you join [livejournal.com profile] free_manga and ask for recs, they can probably give you many more.
