Seeking new acquaintances

My friends list has got a bit quiet, and it would be nice to meet some new people. So, without further ado...

About me: I'm in my mid-30s, and I live in the South West of the UK. I currently work in publishing, and I have a nice and shiny collection of failed careers (at least three, at the last count).

Interests: astronomy, science, books, computer RPGs and amateur SFF artwork. I used to do a fair bit of fic writing, though that seems to have tailed off since about 2016. My political views are left-liberal (it's fair to say I'm not a fan of the Trump, or Brexit, or the Tories). Musically, I listen to an odd mix of symphonic metal (think Nightwish/Within Temptation/Delain etc.), various instrumental things like Murgrind, and a surprising amount of random '80s stuff.

What I post about: mostly, my unexciting day-to-day life. I sometimes try to do more high-minded stuff, but that happens to no particular schedule. If any of this sounds of interest, please feel free to add me!

I too post about my unexciting day-to-day life, and live as a liberal in the southeastern United States, where that is highly frowned upon. Also interested in science and writing fic, mostly in November. shall we? :)

Actually, randomly enough, I was born in Australia (Toowoomba), though my family moved back to the UK when I was 3, so I only barely remember it.

With that screen name, and my interest in watching the progress of mapping our galaxy via GAIA, JWST, etc....

Interesting - when I left the field, GAIA was just getting going. (I can't remember if the first data release had quite happened or not, but if it had, it was only just out.) But as it happens, I did do a lot of work with WISE data. Some of it even got into my thesis :)

I am a retired bookkeeper who just writes about my daily life. I stay non-political on my journal and live in the northeastern US.

We have some interests in common so could give it a shot.

One thing though. I was just diagnosed with cancer and will be writing about that from time to time as I start and progress with treatment. If that is a problem I understand.

(Regarding the politics, it's hardly a main theme on my dreamwidth. I occasionally roll an eye at the ongoing lunacy surrounding Brexit, but I seem to be moving onto the "world-weary" stage rather than the "panicking" stage. Unless something unexpected happens, like a new general election, there probably won't be much political comment for the foreseeable future.)
