NAME: Alex
AGE: Just about 25.
INTERESTS & HOBBIES: reading, writing, graphic making, volunteering, computers, web design, being alone, spending time with friends once in a blue moon, making lists, roleplaying
LOOKING FOR: Just people to try and get to know?
ANYTHING ELSE?: I'm in Australia, looking to move to the UK. I work at a Library, study Archiving and volunteer in about four or five different places. I'm the oldest of three children, I post about my RL, fandom stuff is intermixed but not dominate it might take up a paragraph or less. I"m rather random. I try not to post solely about it too much as I have a number of journal friends who aren't into fandom and really it could be boring after awhile to them!

I'm highly organised, I love being busy and often am but I do get online quite a bit too. I have goodreads as well as the sites below. I'm a MASSIVE reader - mostly YA fantasy, sci-fi and history but a good dose of adult in it. I pretty much won't touch chicklit/erotica etc but will give anything else at least a shot. If I want RL I'll go outside 'kay?

Given the convergence of interests and the fact we're in the same city, how come I don't know you already?!

*waves walking stick*

I remember Dungeons & Dragons came with artwork by Trampier and Otus!

(Actually, I even remember the fall of Saigon, but that's another matter...)

Hi Alex! I am Claire, of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US area (West Chester specifically), possibly organised, but possibly random - older of two sisters.
I've wanted to move to England for years, but then that changed to Russia.
(Ended up visiting China since it was cheapest to buckle down, make sure I knew a few kanji, and say "nihao" to a few of my professor's friends over there.)

I "followed" your GR page. I generally spend more time on LJ but sometimes live on DW for a change of journals and other scenery.
I read so much, myself - twenty pages from the end of Gorky Park right now! ^_^ And a couple of other things... I mostly read things in English but can kind of grok the gist of a few other languages if I honestly sit down and try.

I don't want to jump on you so only if you want!

How wonderful! ♥ You can really get lost in the history of both places. I've heard conflicting reports about whether it is good to go to Russia, though everyone says during the winter is a bad idea. And one can get lost in the cultures. I've spent semesters at it, and there's always something else someone said somewhere.

I do not cross-post since I have some things I want to say to a DreamWidth-specific audience and others to a LiveJournal-specific one. I think I tend for the latter, but I like both.

GR claims I am two books behind my schedule, but that is okay - I would rather enjoy the books I have than rush through them. Not close enough to the end of anything to just call it done. I could say I didn't want to finish the Death Penalty book and I think Doctor Faustus gives me enough of a headache I'm going to say it's too much for me right now...

True, true. It's so tempting to get caught up in all of the fascinating details... so have I, and that the winter is most of the year.
I'm not entirely sure, but the literature and other arts are splendid regardless.

*nodnod*

Today I claimed "Paradise Lost" done enough so I'm roughly "on track" - if that even means anything to anyone. What it means to me is that I don't have to say I've read many more than I already have been saying I have been reading per diem to make that GR goal. If I do, then I mean to add 10 or 20 to next year.
I read all the time, it's just a matter of actually saying anything on the Internet about it.
There is no race.

^_^

RL can get so nasty.
I'm suspicious of audiobooks (they don't feel like the same thing), though it's very true the Ivan Denisovich one fixed my inherent laziness with grokking the stream of text Solzhenitsyn suggested.

All we can do is fight the disagreeable parts.

I'm still not a really big fan of audiobooks, but perhaps I'm just being persnickety about how I get my fix of human contact.
