Hello! I'm Tuuli, Finnish, aged 33 (and constantly amazed at that. I'm over thirty? When did that happen? Though I kind of like that number, 33. I don't want to turn 34. Could we just agree I'll be 33 from now on?)
Alright, off on a tangent. Trying to get to the point... I've had an LJ for a long while (over eight years). I got myself a DW account last year but my f-list... circle... whatever you call it, is still quite small and quiet here. So I figured I should try to do something about it.
My interests include:
Languages - I'm just overall interested in different languages and how they work. (English major, btw.) I have a very bad habit of starting to study new languages and then forgetting old ones... So far the only ones I actually can speak are English and Swedish, in addition to which I've studied French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Estonian, Japanese, and German. German's the newest addition, and I am not allowed to start a new language before I know German at least somehow. (At this rate this might be around the time I retire, but so what.)
Books - I read much, mainly fantasy and science fiction, but also pretty much anything else. If I should name one favorite author I'd probably pick C.J. Cherryh. ♥ Oh, and I work at a bookstore. Kind of... ended up there, but hey, I like it. I also write, and dream of publishing something some day, but... it's a bit same as with the languages. Once I'm retired, maybe....
Fairytales & folklore - You can't ever be too old to read fairytales. Period.
The four seasons - as in, I do love summer and sunlight and swimming in lakes and going barefoot, but I also love winter and snow and the starry sky, and skiing, skating and tobogganing (you can never be too old for that, either.) And spring with budding plants, and autumn and rain and colorful leaves...
Anime/manga - (I do also read other than Japanese comics, like, e.g. Neil Gaiman's Sandman.) My favorite anime&manga fandoms tend to be quite small (and in some cases non-existent): Blade of the Immortal, Hikaru no Go, House of Five Leaves, Mononoke*, Otogi Zoshi, Princess Tutu, Saiunkoku Monogatari, and all anime by the sadly deceased Satoshi Kon. Oh, and I also liked quite a lot Naoki Urasawa's Monster and 20th Century Boys.
*Not to be confused with Princess Mononoke, though I do like that one too.
Music - I've got a pretty varied taste when it comes to music. As long as it doesn't involve any screaming or other attempts to break my eardrums, it's most likely ok. I used to listen a lot to Nightwish when I was younger. Other Finnish bands/singers I like are CMX, Maija Vilkkumaa and Zen Cafe. I like classical, bossa nova (Astrud Gilberto), and, umm, world music, or how to define it (Capercaillie, Gjallarhorn, Emily Smith, Kokia, Mari Boine)... And so on.
Other than that, I'm interested in old stuff, archeology, history (Heian age Japan), astronomy... I'm a pretty easy-going person with rather liberal views. I usually update quite frequently, though sometimes a while can pass with no updates, and I comment too, though not on every single post you make. My journal's mainly locked, as you see, so if you add me, I'll give you access. I don't expect you to do same, if you don't want to.
Oh, and sauna. I love sauna. But hey, I'm a Finn.
...and I tend to babble. Didn't mean to write this much. Anyways, nice to meet you all.

Just the other day I went to watch the Hobbit movie again. ^^ I really like it... I've been thinking I should reread the book, too. One of these days.
Adding you back!

LOL, Mononoke. I still haven't been able to get through that series, because every time I watch it I pause every second to take a million billion screencaps. The artwork is so fantastic! :D Also, Monster is pretty much my favourite anime/manga ever, so I'm glad to see someone else who has read/seen it. :)
(RIP Satoshi Kon. I loved his work as well. *sob*)
Mind if I add you? :)

I totally know what you mean with getting sick of winter... I love the four seasons, but on their proper places. April shouldn't look like November! And Mononoke... I had that very same problem with it. xD
I should watch the Monster anime some day. So far I've just read it.

*looks outside window* Yep. Still November.
Oh, do watch the Monster anime. It's basically exactly the same as the manga, except with bonus moving images, sounds and lovely music. :D
