For the duration of my dreamwidth's existence, it's been a lot of venting and journaling. I'm a teacher, but I'm currently kind of intentionally underemployed so I could move, but I'm now trying to get a job that sort of balances it out. I always intended for it to be a mix of that and fandom stuff, but for the most part I have only managed some fandom-posting outside the period in 2020 when I was analyzing episodes of stuff to escape.

My hobbies are:

Outside trying to interact with fiction directly through writing or making fandom-related stuff, I like to listen to audio content a lot. I listen to true crime podcasts and similar things. I also watch/listen to a lot of various YouTube stuff, like entertaining "reddit story" or meme videos.

My fandoms are:

On my sticky post on my journal, I have a long list of stuff I am interested in. Right now, I'm interested in: The Untamed, The Hunger Games (specifically The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes at the moment), and several anime though I keep flitting too much for hyperfixation - all on that list I mentioned

I'm looking to meet people who:

Are interested in both fandomy things and real life posts. Making friendly connections.

My posting schedule tends to be: daily/weekly/monthly/sporadic/etc

Sporadic but I'm getting more consistent recently. Once or a few times a week? Will probably vary a lot still.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:

I don't get along with people who follow conservative politics or who are hostile toward religion in and of itself. I also do not like generative AI.

Before adding me, you should know: I usually just subscribe to people unless they preemptively grant me access, but I also tend to follow suit with other adults. I very rarely lock posts, and it's usually because I'm just wary of strangers finding something in it that might be a bit more personal or whatever.

Age: Over 40.

I mostly post about: many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. Most things, really. Local travel, public transport, political thoughts, photos, music, old computers, the weather, fandom stuff (see below) and much else besides. I don't post about work, and I very rarely post about family. My DW is more than 90% public, so feel free to have a scroll and see how you feel about it. Anyone is welcome to interact on my public posts.

My hobbies are: reading, taking photos, older popular music (roughly, pre-AutoTune), history (especially Roman), weather, steam trains, cricket, motorsport, retrocomputing.

My fandoms are: The big one is My Little Pony. I've been heavily into MLP since 2012 and I consume, review and write fic in the fandom. The number of Pony conventions I've attended is now well into double figures; indeed, I'm going to one next weekend. I am very happy to chat about this fandom, answer questions and so on.

My first fandom was Watership Down, and though I'm not really active in said fandom any more, I still love the book dearly. I was also on the fringes of the furry fandom for a while, really until MLP took over -- hence my username and avatar.

I'm looking to meet people who: are interested in things, and interested in talking about those things. Serious things, simple things, silly things, they all count. I value DW (as I did LJ before that fell apart) because it's one of the few places where people can discuss stuff at length, acknowledging that there are a lot of shades of grey in the world.

My posting schedule tends to be: broadly, daily. I miss a few days, and occasionally I'll post more than once. Back in peak LiveJournal times (mid-2000s) I'd often post 4-5 times a day, so the amount I do now is actually scaled back quite a bit from what I used to do!

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:

* No under-18s please. My journal is nearly all SFW, but I'd prefer not to have to worry when occasionally it isn't.
* I have friends who are LGBT, and respecting their identities is non-negotiable. Very much including the T part.
* Trumpism, Putinism, AfD-ism, you get the idea. You can be right of centre if you're not that kind. I'm not, though.
* We won't get on if you see centrism (in its traditional definition) as simply hard rightism in disguise. In UK terms, I won't equate the Liberal Democrats with Reform.
* Actually taking food snobbery/gatekeeping seriously. Light-hearted jibes are absolutely fine and I'll probably join in!

This section is a bit longer than I would have liked. I hope it's not too scary; I'm actually quite easy-going most of the time!

* My DW is not a political safe space, in the sense that I don't restrict access to people of a specific slice of views.
* I'm British (specifically, English). This affects certain things relating to my politics, social views, even language.
* My politics are fairly traditional centre-left in UK terms. Some things here just don't work the same as in US politics.
* I am not religious. It's completely okay if you are.
* I use content warnings and cuts very rarely indeed. I never post gory images anyway.
* I'm not a dog person at all. I don't actively dislike them, but I don't have much interest in reading a bunch of funny/moving pet stories.
* I find AI interesting and occasionally play around with it. I have plenty of reservations, but if you're a "no AI, anywhere, ever" person then maybe best to pass.
* If you add me then don't find we're clicking, feel free to unadd me and move on. No formal notification required or requested. I will do the same.
