realroseBasics I'm Ruth, I'm 26 and I live in Oregon, USA.
I'm married to my lovely husband Luke of a year and a half and we have a semi-open marriage.
Occupation I'm a substitute teacher, I am an consultant with Arbonne International, I help make styluses for iFaraday and during the summer, I was (and possibly will be again) a coordinator for a summer day camp for kids.
Hobbies and Interests I do medieval reenactment with the Society for Creative Anachronism, I love reading, sci-fi, fantasy, history, random non-fiction etc. I watch a fair amount of TV (HIMYM, Glee, OUAT, Grimm, Castle, Bones, Fringe, True Blood, Doctor Who, Torchwood, New Girl) and can squee with the best of them, but I don't post too often about my TV watching. I am a little bit of a painter, mostly medieval inspired, but between a new book on water color and my great grandfather's old art supply box, I have aspirations of new mediums!
I'm a musician (I studies music as my Bachelor's degree), classical and jazz voice, and I have studied violin for 22 years. *points to icon* That's me and my violin at an SCA event.
I role play (currently D&D 4th E [don't judge! I didn't pick it!], Serenity and 7th Sea, hopefully soon to be adding a 3.5 or Pathfinder game).
I've recently become a pretty avid yoga practicer, and I am very much in love with yoga right now.
I love to travel as much as I can afford, and I've always dreamed of far away places.
About Me I am a liberal non-denominational Christian, with some New Age spirituality leanings. I enjoy learning about tarot, astrology and numerology, and believe that those things have power.
I am a social liberal and mostly an economic liberal as well, and while I am an active citizen, I don't focus too much on politics because it would suck me in and make me very very angry.
As far as personality, I am independent, loud, opinionated person, who is also fairly empathetic and intuitive. I'm a good listener, and can either give hard advice, or just listen without judging depending on the needs of the situation. I'm a bit silly, and I believe life is better with sound effects. I am a natural leader and have a fairly high opinion of myself, but I still recognize my sizable flaws.
About My Journal My journal is 18+, in part because I'm a licensed teacher, and I don't want to 'corrupt' teens, but also because I very much use it as a personal journal. I talk a lot about my life, what I've been up to, issues that have come up for me in my relationships, things I'm thinking about. I also post a little bit of fandom stuff, occasional memes, and sometimes links or articles I come across online.
I read DW every couple of days, and do try and be a loyal commenter and reader.
Looking ForI'm looking for folks in their twenties or thirties who would want to actually get to know a person, and to read and comment, maybe who have something in common, or maybe who want to learn about someone they don't have anything in common with.
