Help! My reading list is super quiet!
Apr. 8th, 2011 06:46 pmI am looking for some individuals that are fairly active writers that I could read that wouldn't mind a peek at my journal every now and again.
For all that I am, I tend to present a very outgoing and extroverted personality. In reality, I am quite introverted and shy. I am a bit of a homebody and prefer a night in watching movies at home to dinner and a movie out among the crowds. This follows through a little in my journaling such that at times I can be a very frequent commenter but at other times, I may lurk in the shadows struggling with what to say.
A little about me: I am a thirty-something non-traditional student. This essentially means that I was downsized right out of a job and decided to go back to school instead of try to find another one that wouldn't suit me well. I am pursuing two majors and one (maybe two) minors in the areas of history and anthropology. I am a bit of a geek in this regard with a focus on East Asian histories and cultures, though I do get a bit too jazzed about WWII and the Battle of 1812. I live in a too small apartment with my partner of 15 years and our four cats. I am childless by choice, not religious by practice but spiritual by nature, and independent in my voting habits.
I enjoy variety in music and movies, but my reading tends to run toward either academic and nonfiction works (mostly in the realm of history and cultures) or science fiction, fantasy and steampunk. But I am willing, at times, to branch out.
I do follow fandoms that involve gaming or anime, occasionally others. But these are based on whim. I do moderate four fandom communities, the biggest one being
areyougame, but I can be found in
ffvii_100,
hopeforlorn, and
kh_100. Just in case my user name seems familiar and you are having a hard time placing me.
My hobbies include: hula dancing, sketching and drawing (though I am not very good), photography (I take way too many pictures of my four cats), occasional cross-stitching, music, video games, road tripping, cooking/baking, and more. So many more that I need five other of me just to do them all.
I suffer from depression, but I think it is getting better.
I usually post about what's going on in my life, an occasional geeky thing, and sometimes picspam (always behind a cut) or videos.
Would you be interested in reading/adding me?
