Hello There
Hi, I've had this DW account for about 3 years now. I want to use it more often and I'm looking for friends.
I'm in my late 30s. I'm going to Law School. I love books, music, and movies. I'm fond of travel. You can find pretty much everything on my profile page, including my photo and facebook badge. I live in New York City, where I was born and raised.
My journal isn't a rundown of my day. It's mostly commentary on current events I've read, tv shows or movies I've watched, Broadway musicals, theater, ballet, sports, politics, academia and the like. I'm also a Christian in training. I was born Roman Catholic and attended Catholic schools from K-8. So sometimes my posts will be on religion, but from an objective standpoint. I have no intention of converting anyone to Christianity. I also am fond of Fashion.
My favorite band is Led Zeppelin. I've read all Jane Austen books. I've also read all books by Laurell K. Hamilton, the Bronte Sisters, Ayn Rand, and William Shakespeare. I'm a bibliophile and have about 50 books sitting on my shelf begging to be read. I have a Kindle, but I much prefer holding a book in my hand.
The last movie I watched was Sherlock Holmes:Game of Shadows. And this week I'm going to see Grey. I recently ended a toxic relationship, so I'm single as a pringle and prefer to remain that way for some time.
I come from a huge extended family from around the world, including the Philippines, Canada, Australia, Spain, England, and the Netherlands.
I'm looking for interesting people to friend. We don't have to have everything in common. Vive le difference. I like learning about all different subjects and people. I'm interested in making new friends.
If any of this sounds appealing to any of you, please feel free to add me. Thank you ♥

I'm a Philadelphian former music major student attempting to write 50,000 words in February on 750words.com.
Besides holding down a student government job and study many of the interesting parts of Life!
Edited to fix the HTML oopsie.

Re: Added You =)
^__^
I only learned about 750words.com on the day before the Kalens of January 2012 (alias: on New Year's Eve of 2011). I only summarise publicly what I've written because sometimes it's private. (Like, this should be what I'd written on 1 Feb - about the tabula rasa [the blank slate] of the new month! And kind of about Cong [significant other] because that's his birthday.)
I'd still be a music major except I've taken Music Theory II the maximum number of times permissible at my institution, but my final score did not permit me entry into III, nor the corresponding level of Aurals, nor of Music History. So I am focusing on what comes more easily to me for now, possibly returning at another institution after I've gotten my undergraduate degree.
Re: ^__^
Re: ^__^
I did not learn any music theory in high school - I was just in Band and Orchestra (and made it up to State Orchestra '07 ♥).
They say that teaching really helps you learn more about the subject yourself, so perhaps!!
I had studied piano as my minor freshman year mumble-mumble years ago. The class was full of people and I didn't get any individual attention though.
Every semester I have had to compose something - it tends to be unremarkable though because it's just a theory project, like "NEEDS AN AUGMENTED SIXTH CHORD BY THE FIFTH MEASURE" or what-have-you.
The more memorable compositions of mine have always been the unprompted ones - like I made a Cyrillic Alphabet Song when I was learning Russian and then I composed the "It's Still Tuesday" dirge when I had classes all Tuesday every Tuesday. (I STILL have classes all Tuesday every Tuesday so it's still a valid song - Dad wanted to make it into an "It's Still Monday" song but my Mondays are pretty awesome so if there IS a Still Monday song it is not of my composition.)
My compositions tend to be in the minor mode because, frankly, it's easier to make minor music sound meaningful. I mean, you can put emphasis on the me and le of the minor scale and it sounds awesome, while a major scale is just rudimentary, and even Julie Andrews can't fix that much (in the Sound of Music).

I DO have a Youtube channel these days, I've just been too lazy to figure out how to upload anything in the face of everything else needing to be done. Perhaps when the semester concludes I will have time to learn.
In fact, the recording I've put on Youtube was uploaded by a close friend... a practice Mozart recording.
Re: ^__^
I listened to your Mozart Oboe Quartet in F major and you were amazing. Thank you for sharing. You are indeed talented. I enjoyed listening to play your instrument. It was beautiful =)
Re: ^__^
Thank you for listening ^__^ I mostly play oboe for health these days.

Languages are fun! Especially when you can use them for something fun, like order ice cream :)

Also, added. <3
What did you think of A Game of Shadows?
Added you =)
Thank you for adding me. I added you back =) You seem like an interesting person and I like anime, music, and movies too. I look forward to getting to know you better and reading your journal.
I thought "Sherlock Holmes:Games of Shadow" was intellectually stimulating and action-packed. I liked it better than the first one. I was upset that they killed off one of my favorite characters though. I highly recommend seeing it. You won't be disappointed. I'm also a huge Robert Downey Jr. fan, so that helped. hehe. It's like Mission Impossible meets Master Chess Players.
