This isn't awkward at all..
I'm Sonja and I never know how to introduce myself, so I'll just ramble a bit.
I'll be 20 in September, and have to keep reminding myself about that. I'm from Pennsylvania, but thanks to a spontaneous change in plans, may move to California. I read a lot (mainly nonfiction) and my interests always involve some kind of creative output - writing, drawing, songwriting, languages...the Sims ;)
Labels are always fun: progressive, Green, feminist, atheist, rapidly turning socialist; INTJ personality, Type 5 personality, Virgo, Snake. Basically, my worldview is that I'm not overly impressed with "the way things are done," and there's almost always a better way to do it. Even if I haven't figured it out yet. I also don't talk nearly as much in real life.
So far, most of my entries are about comics, feminism, politics, the occasional randomness, and some artwork. I'm a comic creator and am in the middle of launching a new webcomic, Idle Spirits, so a lot of my posts are about the process (aka bitching about how a script/page is kicking my ass). I'm starved for conversation about making comics.
I haven't posted anything about or in Japanese at this point, but I've been studying the language on and off by myself since elementary school and am up to about an intermediate level when it comes to reading. I'm always ready to talk about the language. I also know some Spanish and Latin, which are rusting with each day...
I have a separate fandom journal,
ranrata, where I leave most fangirling of TV shows in. When I get on an essay-writing kick, there's some cross-posting between the two journals.
I also run the community
blackwomeninfiction.

And either way, enjoy looking around. :)
I just wanted to let you know that I break my journal up into filters, so if you prefer just the pictures, or the pictures and the writing, I can add you accordingly. I like giving my readers a chance to opt-out of the stuff that doesn't really resonate with them.
