Hi, I'm another LiveJournal convert
As the subject indicates, I'm another convert from LiveJournal. My real name is Holly (and we'll leave it at that), I'm 31 years old, I live in Indiana, and I cashier to pay my bills. I'm an aspiring artist/illustrator (I'm looking to get into art school for animation in the next year after two attempts at regular college).
INTERESTS:
--cartoons/animation (South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Jem & the Holograms, Sailor Moon, Spongebob, Rocko's Modern Life, Daria, Beavis and Butt-Head, Ren and Stimpy, Dexter's Laboratory, Archer, Regular Show, Shin Chan, Adventure Time, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and of course, Disney/Pixar works; my faves are Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Lilo & Stitch, Toy Story, WALL-E and The Incredibles)
--learning foreign languages--art (all sorts, but I dabble mostly in painting and illustration)
--writing (short stories, satire, prose, longer fictional works...but I have never participated in NaNoWriMo, usually because I have lots of other stuff going on in November)
--pro-wrestling (mainly WWE, but some indie stuff as well. My favorite wrestlers are CM Punk, the Miz, Chris Jericho, Beth Phoenix and the Big Show.)
--music (all sorts, I have pretty diverse tastes, I tend to listen to a lot of pop, classic rock, alternative and Motown soul; the only kind I don't care much for are nu-metal, scream-o, and gangsta rap; if I have to single out some favorite artists/bands, I'll go with No Doubt, Weezer, Garbage, The Black Keys, The Killers, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Cheap Trick, The Who, KISS, Poison, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, REO Speedwagon, Journey)
--TV shows (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Seinfeld, The Big Band Theory, American Horror Story, I Love Lucy, Gilmore Girls, Mad Men, The Mighty Boosh, Absolutely Fabulous, Monty Python's Flying Circus, MST3K, The Walking Dead, Jeopardy)
--watching movies (favorites: Pulp Fiction, Gone With the Wind, There's Something About Mary, American Psycho, Clerks, National Lampoon's Vacation, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Office Space, Planet Terror, Dawn of the Dead, Legally Blonde, Bridesmaids, Muriel's Wedding, The Wizard of Oz, The Dark Knight)
--reading (I read all sorts of stuff! Recommend me some new stuff!)
--playing with my dog (I have a black Lab)
--cooking and baking
--vintage advertisements/commercials
--musical theater
--making fun of bad movies
--amusement parks and rollercoasters/thrill rides
--I'm not a huge sports fanatic, but I do try to keep up with football (I'm a Bears fan), basketball (Bulls fan), and hockey (Blackhawks; notice a trend here? I live about an hour away from Chicago).
Like I said, I had two prior stints in college for English Lit and Journalism, but I got burned out on studying about those subjects. But I do still enjoy keeping up with current events and what's going on in the literary world. (I thought I would have a career working as an arts/entertainment reviewer or something, but it never panned out.) And anything else of interest....I got to be an extra in The Dark Knight (my fifteen minutes of fame, *ha ha*, and yes you CAN see me in the film).
If anyone is interested in at least perusing my LJ before deciding to add me, feel free to do so! (I'm <lj user="promisemewings" over there, for the time being anyway...) I'm looking to add new friends and get acquainted with Dreamwidth!

It's almost never sunny in Philadelphia, so scoffs a Philly suburbanite.
We have a black lab too - named Leo, in honour of my father's birthday (when we got him). I more hang around my cat, named Sunshine, as my grandmother had named him (she unfortunately passed away in 2009, and my family played for her funeral, which was REALLY HARD :/ oboe intonation is even harder to maintain when your mind is in mourning!)
English Lit and Journalism sound difficult.
I'm in the middle of an oboe college stint, which has partially turned into a classics college stint - if mostly because my Latin professor taught my high school Latin teacher, and Greek has been kind to me.
Welcome to DreamWidth!!
