I joined Dreamwidth a while back, partly because of the security issues at livejournal, and partly because a lot of the people who I used to talk to on there aren't active much anymore. I've decided to post here because I'm looking for more like-minded people and (as Dreamwidth doesn't seem to have one) I'm wanting to develop a community on here for Star Wars fans.

I am 30 years old, a soon to be (hopefully) MSc student doing Conservation Biology. I am one of those people who seems to be a permanent student because I am more interested in furthering research than making money. As well as biology, I am interested in the other sciences, but my first love when it comes to science is Zoology and the fields connected to it. I am also a pagan who is interested in Druidry and Norse Mythology.

Favourite book genres include Science fiction, fantasy, urban fantasy and historical fiction. I also like Marvel (mostly Wolverine, Thor, the X-men and Spiderman) though I don't read comics anywhere near as often as I'd like to, nor have an impeccable knowledge of them.

Favourtie t.v. shows: Stargate, Star Trek (particularly The Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space Nine), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dark Angel, All Creatures Great and Small and generally anything of a Sci-fi or fantasy nature (yeah, I know All Creatures isn't Sci-fi, but I do like other things as well.)

Favourite Films: I suppose I don't need to mention Star Wars, as I've already mentioned it. Lord of the Rings, Terminator, basically anything that is Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror based.

I also like crafty things like cross stitch and miniatures.

Music: I like metal, mainly European metal bands like Amon Amarth and Sonata Arctica. Green Day, Avril Lavigne, Nickelback and a few others. I also like classical music but this is mainly film music like that composed by John Williams or music inspired by nature.

What I don't like: I'm not really into Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, Manga/anime (I may like animated films and tv shows, but just not those which are considered anime) and True Blood. I don't mind people being fans of these things, I just don't want every post to be about them.
