Hello!

So, my dwircle, while seemingly large, is a bit light. I don't know what happened to everyone, but I would like a more active reading list.

My name is Romy and old enough to know better yet young enough to still laugh at myself.

Currently, I am a non-traditional student seeking a career change after my job imploded. I am pursuing degrees in History and Anthropology with minors in Women/Gender and International/Global Studies. My main concentration of study is East Asia.  I tend to take my schooling pretty seriously. I volunteer occasionally on archaeological digs and am active in some club and honor society activities.

I live with my partner and our four cats. We have been a happy little family for fifteen years and are looking forward to a lifetime of laughs. We are child-free. It's not that we don't like children, we just don't want our own.

I am pretty active - I am trying to lose some weight - so, I tend to be away from the computer randomly. During the weekends, I completely disconnect from the world to spend quality time with my partner. I believe that everyone should disconnect from the internet for a few days once in a while - I just do it regularly. This doesn't mean that I don't read - I actually read everything - it just means that posting from me, on weekends will be nonexistent.

I am learning to play the mountain dulcimer.

I am decidedly drama and snark-free, preferring to keep my journal a little on the lighthearted side of things. I post mainly about things going on in my life, but will occasionally squee about movies/books/anime/music, post my recipe adventures, and will randomly post links or video that I find interesting or fun. Sometimes a song download will end up in my journal too.

My adding and reading policy is as follows: add me at will! If you find that we don't click after a while or that you are just bored with me, feel free to disengage your journal from mine with no hard feelings and no backlash. I won't ask you why you are leaving. Sometimes people just don't get on, you know? I am pretty easy that way.

If you need to know more about my interests, click the cut.

In politics, I am independent though left-leaning. I feel that there are good ideas out there on both sides of the aisle, but I am also a huge proponent of working together and compromise.

In religion, I am a Possibilian. I do not fit well with organized religion as it stands now, though I have no problem with people that do. My philosophy is always "to each, his own" and "live and let live".

My interests are: cooking, exercise, hula dancing, music, movies, BOOKS, Lego video games, road tripping, history and so many other things that come and go with whim.

Main Fandoms: Final Fantasies VII (plus compilation), VIII, X, XII, and XIII; Kingdom Hearts, Saiyuki, Weiss Kreuz, Gundam Wing plus the occasional Harry Potter or Middleman. I mod a couple fandom writing communities: [community profile] ffvii_100 , [community profile] kh_100 , and [community profile] areyougame .

Favourite Movies: Ink, Several Godzilla classics (I love Godzilla), Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Blind Swordsman Zatoichi, Star Wars (the original 4-6), Meet the Robinsons, Big Trouble in Little China and a ton more. I tend to be a fan of Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman.

TV Shows: Shaun the Sheep (don't laugh, he's cute!), Doctor Who (big fan of 4, 9 and 10), Torchwood, The Middleman, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs...but I don't tend to watch too much television

Books: I read way to much, but tend to have leanings toward sword and sorcery, high fantasy, sci-fi, with occasional manga and nonfiction through in.

Music: I don't think there is really too much music that I don't like. So it would be a rather long list. I like everything from dubstep to trance to rock and roll to pop to some rap to dance and hip hop to easy listening to new age. I run the gambit. I do, sadly, do not really like new country. I tend to favor the old timey stuff.

Add me?
