DreamWidth's Newest Recruit

Hello to the community. My name is Namid, and I have just this evening found my way over to DreamWidth. For the past seven or so years, I have been a (decently) faithful user of LiveJournal. However, after being introduced to and reading the policies of this site, I felt that a shift was due. Likely for the time being my DreamWidth account will be somewhat of a mirror to my LiveJournal account, but I welcome the opportunity this new site affords for me to make new acquaintances who will hopefully become friends.

The initial post in my journal is an introduction of sorts, and I welcome all of you to take a look and see if I am someone that you feel you would have a good connection with. If so, please feel free to subscribe to my journal and I shall reciprocate as quickly as possible.

For the briefest of overviews, I am a 22 year old queer individual residing in Missouri, United States. There I am in my final month of working as an Applied Behavior Analysis implementer in a preschool classroom for children with autism. Come August, I intend to re-enter my previous university in pursuit of a degree focusing on the sociological implications of a disability culture. I myself am hard of hearing, and have been diagnosed with a slough of psychiatric disorders. The former effects me far more than the latter, so no worries about my journal being a "dark" space. I'm quite a liberal individual, complete with body modifications and left-wing politics. I am also a vegetarian, and the owner of a fourteen-year-old cat and a four-year-old dog, both of whom were rescued from the humane society I do volunteer work for.

I am looking to subscribe to the journals of individuals who share more about themselves than just merely the events of the day, memes, or thoughts on fandoms. I love to read introspective entries with deep reflection and soul-searching quandaries, and I promise to return the gesture.

If I sound like someone you would be interested in subscribing to, please don't feel the least bit deterred that my journal is so new. I am here for the long haul. Just let me know you've subscribed, and I'll do the same.

I'm going to subscribe to you. I'm 23 years old and a speech pathology student in college. This semester the client I worked with was a four year old boy with autism and it was a trying but very rewarding experience. I'm planning on volunteering with Chariot Riders this summer, which is a theraputic riding stable in my area.

I have a few body modifications myself, and want more, but I'm sort of limited while I'm still in my program of study because whatever I have has to be acceptable to whereever I am assigned to for my externship next year. I really love the feeling of being pierced though, so I have a feeling I'm going to wind up with a lot of "hidden" piercings when all is said and done.

you sound so intelligent, i'd like to subscribe to your journal.

if you'd like to do the same that would be lovely. here's a little about me:
-24, graduated last summer with a B.S. in Psychology (hopefully getting into substance abuse counseling soon!) I use my dreamwidth mainly as a private space for my thoughts, art, etc.

Hello there (: Though you posted this some time ago, I was browsing as a friend recruited me here and I've been trying to find some people that I can connect with. I love what you have said here as I have a troublesome time finding people who are interested enough to read the thoughts and theories that I post. I don't really have "fandoms" per se, as the majority of my interests are historical or literary (which is what I'm studying!) I often like to express my ideas on certain works and get feedback or just have a fun time talking about things (beyond a list of daily deeds).

I just loved the way you presented yourself here and thought maybe I could ask if we might chance being friends? (: Unfortunately, my journal is very new so I don't really have anything in there yet but I shall be posting things soon!
