Fleeing Livejournal
Hi everyone. My name is Jen and I'm a livejournal defector. About three months ago, I finally reached my limit (maxed out disillusionment) with LJ (and its games [what?!], etc), and decided to take up residence at DW.
My journal is a conglomeration of my creative writing, photographs, and the usual digressions regarding people, places, music, and books. I rarely post about my personal life, except where it intersects with some of my interests. My interests include: history, world travel, learning about new cultures, reading, writing, and running. On top of that, I occasionally update about my adventures in Southeast Louisiana (my current home).
I am looking for people with similar interests and especially for writers of original fiction or creative nonfiction. I love reading other people's work and discussing the ins and outs of the writing process. All in all, I am pretty open to all journals, provided we have something in common. I've made great friends at LJ and hope to do the same here!

I'm a frequent visitor from LJ, as of the end of last month - most of my Internet friends are still LJian or dAers, but DW is awesome too - mostly I've used it for private moanings I didn't want to air as publicly on LJ.
It'd be cool to discuss the writing process with you :)

Finding the right word in other languages is really little different from finding lovely synonyms with one's handy Thesaurus. xD
Although really I rarely use the Thesaurus as much as the Dictionary. My friends advise me to use University-based dictionaries, but Webster's et al aren't so bad.
I've been thinking of taking my professor's advice and officially signing on to get my Latin minor - if I'm going to actually end up getting an LIS degree, I might as well!
Harass away :) What would you like to know?

Yep, I've had one story published & have a novella in an upcoming anthology. Haven't had the best experience with that particular publisher, but it's definitely been a learning experience :)
Tinariwen are so awesome. I was lucky enough to see them perform here (Chicago) at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
I'm always happy to meet folks with non-mainstream musical tastes! Also, always looking for musical recommendations & suggestions. I'm also a musician (drummer).
