Good afternoon
NAME:
Stephen
AGE:
Sixties
INTERESTS & HOBBIES:
- Making music.
I’ve played guitar and bass since I was a teenager, and it’s always been the most important thing in my life. I started making what you’d probably call singer-songwriter power pop, then got into the blues deeply in the 90s for a long time, and now for almost a decade, I’ve been making electronic music, though I’m not very good at it.
- Art.
I paint with pastels and draw with charcoal. Again, I’m not very good, especially with the pastels, but it’s fun. I did teach a drawing class for a few years – so I must have some ability (conflicted!).
- Films.
I have very mainstream tastes, whereas my music tastes can be very left-field.
- Model railways.
I’ve liked them since I was a kid, but never had a layout. When lockdown ceases, I can go to some shows – hooray!
- Reading.
Again, pretty mainstream stuff, S Milligan, T Clancy, N Hornby.
- Writing. I wrote a series of short novels between 2009 and 2014, unpublished. I hit a patch of writer’s block from which I never recovered. This bothers me because now is the very time when I ought to be writing three chapters a day.
- And I love to surf the Internet, especially YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps, Wikipedia.
LOOKING FOR: Friendly ladies and gents – over eighteen, please - who don’t mind reading rather personal stuff. I write trusting that you will not judge or gossip, and in turn I shall respect your privacy. Having said that, there is some subject matter that will upset me, so please don’t take it the wrong way if I shy away.
ANYTHING ELSE?: I’m retired, and live in the UK, on my own, which I LOVE. I’ve been a Christian since 1994, but I don’t post about that, much. Mine is a very personal faith. I lived in California for 26.5 years, and have been living back here for 4.5 years now, and am awaiting the end of lockdown so I can jump into my car and explore the British Isles.
Things that have happened in my life have left me very bitter, so you’ll have to excuse the odd rant. But isn’t that what the Web is for...? Mostly, my posts are rather ruminative, and I welcome advice and your personal experiences on whatever subject I am discussing. I love to chat.
