Because right now I'm mostly talking into a void.
I'm a queer lady in my early thirties, from and living in the trash fire that is the USA. I am extremely liberal, and too tired from dealing with conservative bullshit irl on a daily basis to cope with it in my happy fandom space. If you're upset by this statement, please scroll on by and enjoy your day.
To those remaining: Hello! I was majorly into fandom things and LJ about ten years ago, and for about ten years. Then I drifted away, becoming a very boring grown-up person. I've been re-bitten by the fandom bug as of late, and am throwing myself into writing fanfic with enormous relish.
Right now my weird obsession is the semi-ancient BBC's Hustle, due to rediscovering it via week-long marathon while on vacation from work recently. I've also been into the following in the past, and will likely be unearthing all my joys and opinions on them via rewatches and writing soon, as I'm three bingo-card challenges deep: Doctor Who, Torchwood, Primeval, the Man from Uncle (the old TV show, not the new movie), X Company, and Killjoys, along with a dozen other briefer or more distant obsessions. I want all characters to be gay and do crimes. Looking for friends of a similar mindset, tbh.
I post dailyish, and it's almost totally fannish. My irl woes and joys, I journal by hand and keep to myself. I just missed the experience of logging on to an LJ-like site and going, "Let me tell you about why this character is a garbage human being that I would die for." My posts are mostly of that ilk, and excerpts of my ridiculous writing notes as I remember how to do this fanfiction thing. Want an over-lengthy breakdown of the roles of Team Torchwood in an alternate universe I'm working on where they are a long-con crew who angsts less and hugs more? I am the girl for you.
That said, I am an absolute shameless fiend for hurt/comfort, and if that ain't your bag, maybe I am not your girl.
Looking for friends here less for anyone to interact with the nonsense I'm spewing about my miniscule fandom loves right now (though that's totally encouraged, of course), and more because I'm currently only following one rediscovered LJ friend from the good old days, and I miss having a more active reading page. Are there old-school fandom folks still drifting through this ghost town?
Speaking of, one last note. Bless your fannish enthusiasm, but I am too old and wary to friend or interact with anyone under, like, 21. That's a weird age gap I am just not prepared to deal with or, worse, censor my posts against. I wish you the greatest of joys, but I am your fandom great-auntie. Go forth and hang out with the cool young kids. I'll be over here with my schnapps and my complete bafflement re: snapchat, cheering you on from afar.
