cross-posted; hope that's alright!
NAME: Ante (she/they)
AGE: 27
INTERESTS & HOBBIES: general interests: I am an educator (middle school world language - german) and, as such, am constantly reading research in pedagogy, education, language acquisition, equity, etc.. I love cats, dark chocolate, astronomy, avant-garde art of the early 20th century (modernism), literature, language learning/acquisition, linguistics, trains, thinking about memory/time... the usual. :-)
hobbies reading (my main interest is german lit and cultural studies, go figure, so I read a lot of nonfiction in that realm; I do also appreciate fictional literature as well), writing (mostly privately), taking photographs, dabbling in watercolor (just started last summer with zero training), playing with my cats and gerbil, taking walks/cycling/being in nature, cooking and baking (vegetarian and vegan). does riding public transit also count? I also like to travel, go to museums, be by myself but among society, etc. I also really like coffee (and tea, but I have more fun making coffee in various ways at home).
fan interests: my animanga taste stopped when I was in middle school; as such, there are few things I care more about (still) than Fullmetal Alchemist (both '03 and Brotherhood/manga) or Katekyo Hitman REBORN! (manga). though I'm not terribly into the anime scene in general, I will always be down to discuss these at any length.
I generally don't watch series (I have watched... four, I think, in the past decade), but lately have been very into Everything's Gonna Be Okay and The Good Place.
in the past two years, I've become someone who listens to podcasts a lot. this was surprising to me because I appreciate silence, but it also makes sense because I don't have a TV/online subscription/watch series in general and it's as close as I can get to reading while driving or cooking, haha. I love listening to things related to history, science, equity (racial justice, etc.).
I can't make music at all, but I love listening to music. my taste is generally indie, electronic instrumental, hip-hop/rap, and alternative from the 00s. I can name some favorites if you want.
also, I like films! I like drama, historical action, classic/silent cinema, horror, some sci-fi... a little bit of everything. I do not, however, like most forms of comedy.
LOOKING FOR: it's been a while since I've made some new online friends, so I'm just trying to poke my head out and see if there's anyone I might get along with. I think my ideal new friend would share general interests with me and not necessarily fandoms, but if you happen to be into one of my ancient (ha) animanga interests, I would be so glad to nerd out with you. in general, I like to talk to people who also have a field of study they're passionate about/talk about (I love learning things, period) or who like to share their daily life and introspections. even if I don't comment all the time, I just love gleaning how people live and what their experiences are like. if you have cats, that's also a huge plus.
ANYTHING ELSE?: located currently in the NE US, but I go back and forth between here and NE/SE Germany. also, I am a gay woman/lesbian/use the word queer sometimes, so that comes up every once in a while. I also have some low-grade chronic health issues that come up (namely migraine and some other stuff).
ALSO KNOWN AS: millefiore @ twitter; future.pasts @ instagram. I also use plurk. I tend to use all of these more than my journal, to be honest, but (like many of us), I do hope to get more into writing here with some consistency.
nice to maybe meet you!

I write about daily life, writing, and whatever I'm interested in at the moment. I have been really enjoying Dreamwidth for exactly the kind of interactions you're describing.
Oh, and I loved Fullmetal Alchemist when I read it years ago! I never got around to the Brotherhood anime, but I'm suspecting this year might be my year to catch up on must-watch TV....

did you have a particular branch of linguistics you liked most? it was also a minor for me in undergrad, and I most enjoyed semantics and syntax.
I watched the '03 anime as it aired on TV when I was a middle schooler and it has utterly hooked me ever since. I read the manga as it came out, too (more or less -- there was a few year hiatus when I was distracted by other things, then caught up for the ending). with all that said, I didn't completely watch Brotherhood until this past winter! I had rewatched the '03 anime and just felt like I needed more. no regrets, haha.
I have to admit that my journal is pretty empty -- I've done a lot of my daily life sharing on microblogging sites in the past years, but that is, after all, why I'm trying to get back into using my DW. if that doesn't disturb you, then I'll be glad to add you!

I'm interested in sociolinguistics and semantics, and also quite enjoyed phonetics. And like any language nerd, I can't say no to a good etymology.
No worries about posting frequently! I've been posting a lot more than I usually do thanks to current events, but I don't expect any specific frequency from DW friends.

I typically post about my daily life in rural NE Florida, and I like watching wildlife and gardening. I read a lot of both fiction and non-fic, and do a lot of vegan and vegetarian cooking. I have three cats, I'm teaching myself Japanese, and I'm a comic artist.
That's pretty much it, my journal is public if you want to skim through it.

Most of my journal is my daily life and thoughts, although I enjoy a lot of different media.

Let's do it! I am an amateur linguist at best these days, but I still love nerding out about language.

what kind of photography did you/do you do?
I also like cameras a lot -- though more for admiring their machinery and less for using them, I have to admit. not that I don't use them, but I wouldn't say I use them with skill, haha. I like looking at details and chronicling them and sharing them, which is why I've always liked taking photos as a hobby.
my journal's pretty empty of newer stuff now, but I'm hoping to fill it more and get back into writing.
it's nice to meet you!

I think we'll get along, so I'll add you! as I've said elsewhere, my journal doesn't have much in it, but I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things, and will appreciate reading in the meantime!

Also, I've added you (and commented on your adding post on your journal; not sure if you saw it).

You know what, I was! I think that would have been high school/college era for me.

I was into art photography so every subject found it's way into my portfolio; usually landscapes or nature since I didn't enjoy photographing people or doing studio work. Somehow, I fell out of that super hard. Now even thinking about makes me nervous lol. Now I just take polaroids, I love polaroid cameras.

is one of my favorite hobbies. I love just going about people-watching and being unobtrusive. I also love going to museums and being in nature. Subscribing!
