INTERESTS: Books and literature, languages, philosophy, mythology, religious studies, classical studies. Various fandoms (see below). Miniatures. Really old horror movies. David Bowie, The Cure, Pink Floyd. Charlie Chaplin. Monty Python. Tea. My latest ongoing obsession is basically "Hong Kong pop culture of the 80s and 90s" (or just any movie/show/record/whatever involving Andy Lau), so if you add me, you may end up seeing a lot of posts about that...

HOBBIES: Reading. Writing. Drawing/painting. Making and photographing miniature sets. Collecting vintage My Little Ponies (and maintaining a major collector's website on same). Studying stuff.

FANDOMS: I'm not really active in any fandoms right now, but in the past my main ones have been Lord of the Rings, M*A*S*H, Sherlock Holmes (mostly bookverse), Star Trek TOS, Les Miserables, Notre-Dame de Paris, and Harry Potter. I'd probably be writing fic for The Duke of Mount Deer (TVB 1984) right now if only it had a fandom in English. :P

JOURNAL: My entries are mostly excited and/or reflective ramblings about stuff I'm currently doing (reading, watching, learning, obsessing over), sometimes with pics behind a cut tag. (Lately I seem to spend most of my time trying to find excuses to avoid writing my doctoral thesis. One of my professors, observing my sudden irrelevant passion for learning Chinese, said, "You've taken procrastination to a whole new level." This is probably a fair character note for me.)

LOOKING FOR: Anybody who wants to be friends, really. :) I've been hoping for years that LiveJournal would somehow resurrect, but it's not looking like that's in the cards, so I'm finally trying out DW.

We have several interests in common (including classic horror films, David Bowie, reading / writing / books, art, photography, etc.). I'm also a fan of classic horror actors, most especially Boris Karloff and Vincent Price, but also Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing.

For some reason, Lugosi is my favorite of the classic horror guys, though I also love Karloff and concede that he's a much better actor. The other guys are great too, especially Price. And I might add Peter Lorre to the list. :)

I haven't seen The Mask of Dimitrios, but Lorre in a leading non-villainous role sounds like something I need to find. Looks like it's "currently unavailable" on Amazon (but with almost a five-star rating, wow). I'll keep looking for it. :)

Holy crap, your art is amazing! Also: Blast from the absolute past with the vintage MLPs. I remember playing with those when I was a kid. Can't for the life of me remember which of the ponies I had; I just remember having several of them.

Anyway — I've been hoping for years that LiveJournal would somehow resurrect. That has been me for the last I don't even know how long, too. I fell out of journalling back in the days when everyone did a pretty mass exodus over to tumblr, and while I tried to do the whole journalling thing on tumblr for a little while... it just wasn't the same. I'm super hoping to reconnect with that sense of community again through DW. So... friends? :D Here's a bit about me. No pressure to add me if you feel my journal wouldn't be to your liking. :)

Hi there! And thanks! :) I actually saw your post on the community and thought you sounded interesting, but I was hesitant to add you mostly because of the BDSM thing -- not because I have any problem with BDSM specifically, but because I basically try to avoid seeing/reading anything sexually descriptive at all (I'm asexual and am kind of grossed out by, like, everything about the human body). So unfortunately I think it might not work out. If I'm misunderstanding your post, though, or if you plan to keep the sex/TMI stuff behind cut tags anyway, just let me know. :)

Yeah nah, I lj-cut pretty much everything, as I write walls of text usually. I definitely lj-cut any discussions about BDSM, with appropriate NSFW labels/warnings. It's cool if you don't feel comfortable mutually adding each other, though. Totally get it, man! Let me know either way - I won't be offended if you'd prefer to pass. :)

It's very hard to pick even three favorite Bowie albums! A lot of different ones have been my favorites at different times, definitely including the ones on your list. I think right now I would choose:
