New friends?
Hello people!
I'm Zhel, or Dani, a 32 year old living in Atlanta with my husband, two dogs, and a cat.
I'm in the SCA, which is to say, I enjoy re-creating the middle ages, sewing, archery, embroidery, sword fighting, and other exciting adventures. It also means I'm regularly trying new things within the umbrella of medieval arts.
I also play trivia with members of my synagogue every week, and while I try to make it a habit to attend the synagogue, I'm never preachy about religion. Not that Jews tend to be preachy, but you never know?
I have a (mostly) weekly feature in my LJ on Wednesdays in which I talk about the books I am reading, or just finished reading. I also have a goodreads account if you'd like to be friends there. I read popular psychiatry, history, YA dystopias, and have recently started a re-read of the Little House books.
I'm a disabled veteran. Long story short, I have a TBI from my time in the army, which has given me schizo-affective disorder, and I no longer work. I used to work as a special ed teacher, and later part time as a baby sitter for a family with two kids with Asperger's.
I enjoy watching sports. I'm a Colorado Avalanche fan, with the Caps being a close second. I'm also a Falcons fan with the Broncos being a close second.I get stupidly excited every 4 years by the World Cup, though I don't watch much soccer otherwise. I am excited that my city will be getting a MLS team in a couple years, and probably will add that to my watching when it happens.
I'm trying to have a kid. I've been trying for over a year, and have recently started seeing a doctor about this fact. :)
